The Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 13 (0197-34Q) is a small notebook which has been built for meeting only simple professional and personal requirements. The presence of Gigabit Ethernet port and a powerful battery backup makes it good for travellers. However, you can easily find one with far better configuration for the same price.
Display and Build
The Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 13 (0197-34Q) features a 13.3-inch HD LED Glare display which looks attractively sharp and rich even with the standard resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels. The Glare technology makes videos and pictures appear rich but can turn out to be too stressful for your eyeballs.
It is encased in a professionally designed black colored outfit which certainly looks beefy with a thickness of 35.6 mm. However, it has a weight of 1.7 kg which allows you to carry it around without much hassle.
Processor and OS
At the heart of the machine, there is a 1.6GHz AMD Turion Neo X2 L625 processor made of two cores and based on AMD M780G chipset. It is paired with an extremely paltry 1GB DDR3 RAM which is capable of running plain tasks only. For better performance, you can expand the RAM's capacity using the 2 unused DIMM slots. The ATI Radeon HD 3200 GPU is capable of handling fairly rich graphics. It doesn't come with any preloaded OS.
Camera, Storage and Multimedia
The Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 13 (0197-34Q) carries a 0.3MP webcam for video calls. A SATA hard disk of 250GB is useful only for a small volume of files and can cause shortage of space in the future. The stereo speakers render HD Audio Solution.
Battery and Connectivity
The Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 13 (0197-34Q) is furnished with a 6 cell Li-ion battery guaranteeing up to 6 hours of backup. Connectivity features include 3 USB 2.0 slots, Bluetooth v2.1, HDMI out, Gigabit Ethernet, VGA port, WLAN and digital media reader.
