The Lenovo Miix2 looks like a great tablet with many features that could turn even the potential iPad buyers towards it. With it’s extremely competitive pricing and great CPU and GPU performance, its a worthwhile buy.
Display and configuration
Lenovo Miix 2, following an upgrade from the earlier Miix, now features an absolutely beautiful 8 inch IPS LCD display with an extremely wide viewing angle of 178 degrees and with a display resolution of 1280x800 pixels and 16 million colours to make videos look crisp and vibrant. Under the hood is the real upgrade, with Intel’s fresh off the table quad core BayTrail processor based on the Atom complete with Intel’s 4000 series of GPU to run HD videos and games without any glitches. The windows 8.1 OS completes the trio and offers a refreshing new and improved 10 point multi touch feature.
Camera and Storage
Lenovo packs in a dual cameras with the primary shooter being a 5MP one and secondary 2MP. Both the cameras do pretty well in their respective departments, although the low light shooting from the primary cam isn't all that great and the front cam gives pictures that are slightly grainy, but then again, people don't really buy tablets simply for the cameras.
Lenovo packs in a massive 128GB eMMC storage on the device to dump in almost any HD media you might want to carry along, and not only that, but to satisfy some consumers for whom even this might be low, an external 32GB memory can be added via microSD.
Connectivity and design
good features as needs
I got mine when I was in USA during Black Friday holiday sale for Rs.9,000 64 GB version ;) Regarding the tablet - Windows 8.1 is pre-installed. Updating it is a big pain..say bye to 4 hours..and have a 8 Mbps connection minimum. It just takes AGES to install the updates..It only comes with Windows 8.1..Update 1, Update 2 all need to be installed. Performance is great - all games are running FANTASTICALLY well. Asphalt 8, Asphalt Overdrive, Six Guns, Modern Combat 5..all heavy games run with 0 LAG. Remember you have to manually update the graphics driver. To do this go in device manager & select graphics adapter & manually update after you download the zip file graphics driver version from Intel. THIS is the ONLY way to update graphics drivers or it just won't let you update them!! Just WEIRD! After installing all Windows Updates..get GPS Location sensor driver from Lenovo website & reinstall that too or GPS will not work. DO NOT update camera driver from Windows Update - make sure you uncheck it during updates OR you will get ENDLESS BSOD's whenever you launch cam. After updating your BIOS from Lenovo website also remember to load BIOS defaults go into BIOS by vol up + power buttons when tablet is off. So yes there are very minor nitpickings here & there this is by no means an iPad which will "just work" If you like tinkering with your stuff get this baby or look elsewhere. But the performance is WORTH it. I can now watch live flash streams of Cricket etc anytime. Flash WORKS just FANTASTICALLY well. Oh & this is guranteed to get Windows 10 update as well. Don't install Windows 10 Techincal preview (already done that) - No drivers whatsoever for it..its basically a brick which doesn't do much if you install Windows 10 technical preview. Hope this helps!
