Display and configuration

Motorola Droid Mini features a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colours and a resolution of 720X1280 pixels. Droid Mini is tipped to run Android OS, v4.2 Jelly Bean. In terms of performance this device will rely on 1.7 GHz Krait Dual Core processor with a 2GB RAM.

Camera and storage

For photography fanatics, there is a 10MP rear snapper which will be accompanied by a LED flash and a 2MP front camera. Droid Mini boasts 16GB of internal storage which cannot further be expanded.

Connectivity and battery

On the connectivity front, Motorola has provided 3G, LTE,GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and micro USB options. Li-Ion 2000 mAh battery ensures prolong usage with a decent standby time and talk time.

Verdict

The 4.3 inch Super AMOLED display will leave you lovestruck at the first stare only. This is the only device from the recently launched Droid lineup, which flaunts the Motorola's edge-to-edge display, minimizing the area between the display and either side of the screen. This miniature version loaded with power packed configuration will certainly contradict its name: Mini.

It all started in 2011. Poor souls waiting in long Apple Store lines craned their necks to catch a glimpse of a big new phone that no one yet recognized. It was the Samsung Galaxy S II, with a bright and colorful 4.3-inch display that dwarfed the newly released iPhone 4S. Samsung’s message was simple: the next big thing is already here. And it kept on growing. By the time Apple released the 4-inch iPhone 5, Android phones had effectively lapped...

Pros: Fantastic size Bright and clear display Performs near-equally to the Ultra and Maxx

Cons: Ugly, disproportionate design Weak battery life

Just as the Motorola DROID Ultra is this year’s replacement for the DROID RAZR HD, the new DROID Mini takes the place of the DROID RAZR M in the line-up. In fact, both the DROID Mini and DROID Ultra share similar features, such as the 1.7GHz Motorola X8 SoC, 10MP Clear Pixel camera, and Kevlar construction. With the Mini, all is coming in a smaller package for those not looking for a massive smartphone......
