PROS: T-Mobile's first HSDPA phone. Good voice quality. Full Web browser with Java capabilities. Integrated GPS.
CONS: Not very loud. Somewhat sluggish media player interface. Nonstandard headphone jack.
BOTTOM LINE: At last, T-Mobile is getting serious about 3G. With decent sound quality, HSDPA speed, Java flexibility, and robust PC connectivity, the Sony Ericsson TM506 is the best 3G phone for T-Mobile so far, and the first one we can recommend with enthusiasm.
PROS: Clean, speedy user interface, Budget price, Speedy 3G Web browsing speeds, Long battery life
CONS: Limited 3G coverage, No stereo headset or memory card included
BOTTOM LINE: A stylish and fun clamshell that offers fast data for a budget price.
BOTTOM LINE: The Sony Ericsson TM506 is the first cell phone from Sony Ericsson to show up on T-Mobile in a long time. It is also the first HSDPA phone for T-Mobile's new 1700MHz 3G network. Ricky gives it the once over in this review.
BOTTOM LINE: The Sony Ericsson TM506 stands out as a basic cell phone with traits that many others lack: it feels solidly constructed, and the design is sleek and aesthetically pleasing. The TM506 also works on T-Mobile's 3G network, so users get faster download ...
PROS: The Sony Ericsson TM506 has a sleek, easy-to-use design with a brilliant display. Its functional feature set includes world 3G support, a camera, a music player, and Assisted GPS.
CONS: The Sony Ericsson TM506's external display is small with limited functionality. It supports only three GSM bands and the speakerphone quality is mediocre.
VERDICT: The Sony Ericsson TM506 has a couple of faults, but it's broad 3G support and integrated GPS makes it a welcome addition to T-Mobile's lineup.
BOTTOM LINE: Sony Ericsson and T-Mobile have teamed up for the first time in four years to offer the 3G-equipped TM506. Was it worth the wait?
PROS: Attractive looking ; Built-in GPS ; Networks include EDGE, GSM 850, 1800, 1900, HSDPA 1700/2100 and UMTS 1700/2100 ; Excellent call quality
