The Samsung Galaxy Prevail for Boost Mobile is the first Android smartphone to utilize Boost`s CDMA 3G network (provided by Sprint). Dan Seifert tests it out for us in this review....

Pros: Android 2.2 Froyo ecosystem, good battery life, decent still photos

Cons: slower processor, no Flash support, poor video capture

Don`t let the name fool you: the Samsung Galaxy Prevail ($179.99) is not a high-end Samsung Galaxy S cell phone. It is, however, a wonderfully functional, inexpensive Android device for everyone who wants a budget smartphone. Just how inexpensive, you ask? Boost is charging $50 per month for unlimited talk, text, and data on Sprint`s nationwide 3G network. That price shrinks by $5 every 6 months you pay your bill on time, until you reach $35. It`...

Pros: Good set of features and performance for the price. Fantastic plan pricing. Free, built-in TeleNav GPS. Responsive UI (given the lower-end hardware). Good looking.

Cons: Pros Good set of features and performance for the price. Fantastic plan pricing. Free, built-in TeleNav GPS. Responsive UI (given the lower-end hardware). Good looking.

When we first heard the rumors of a new Samsung Galaxy phone for Boost Mobile, we envisioned a handset very much like the Samsung Mesmerize for U.S. Cellular; in other words, the next clone in the black, ultraglossy Galaxy S line. To Samsung's credit, the Galaxy Prevail is its own phone, with a sophisticated--even elegant--design: a sloping screen, dark, metallic accents, and a soft-touch finish on the back and sides. The Prevail is Boost Mobile'...

Pros: The Samsung Galaxy Prevail has an elegant design and a surprisingly decent camera. It`s eligible for Boost Mobile`s reduced-rate plan.

Cons: Boost Mobile turned off the Prevail`s Android 2.2 hot-spot capabilities. Also, call quality could be better.

Verdict: The Samsung Galaxy Prevail marries sophistication with good value to become Boost Mobile`s best smartphone....
