Affordably priced smartphone for the younger generation
Display and Configuration
Videocon A16 features a 3.5 inch TFT LCD display with a display resolution of 480x320 pixels and capable of replicating 262k colours. The display although, not brilliant, but for the price range the mobile comes in, it’s pretty good. Powered by the latest Android JellyBean OS v4.2.2, the hardware consists of a 1GHz dual core processor augmented by a 256MB RAM chipset.
Camera and memory
Videocon had rightly decided to give the A16 both primary and secondary cameras, with the primary being a 3.2MP shooter and the secondary a VGA. The primary cam has a 2048 x 1536 pixels shooting ability with digital zoom and video calling is possible with integrated skype messenger. The memory is limited to 512MB, but can be expanded to 32GB which is more than enough.
Connectivity and Battery
Videocon A16 is a dual GSM sim phone with Bluetooth v3.0, Wi-Fi, GPRS and USB connectivity options. The lack of 3G might be a deterrent to some trying video calling though. The battery is average at 1400mAH.
Videocon seems to be going strong for the affordably priced cell phone range with its latest offering, the A16, which is targetted to youngsters and college going students. Apart from the low RAM, the device does not disappoint.
