Display and Configuration
Xiaomi's Mi 5 has a premium feel with a 3D glass paneling at the back which merges seamlessly to the metal frame making it featherweight at 129gms. It has a 5.15-inch full HD 1,080p display which is pin sharp along with contrast ratio and colour reproduction being crisp and clear. The Sunlit Display feature of Xiaomi optimizes the display in bright outdoor conditions.
The Mi 5 houses a Snapdragon 820 processor running at 2.2GHz and supported by 3GB of RAM which renders super fast speed and a definite leap in performance. Alongside this, there is an Adreno 530 GPU for high quality gaming which is a handsome add on. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Xiaomi's MIUI 7 interface.
Camera and Battery
Xiaomi has come up with a lot of improvements for the camera module for Mi 5 with sony's new IMX298 16MP rear camera which sports phase -detection autofocus for fast focusing and deep trench isolation for better colour reproduction and reduced noise. The front side has a 4MP camera capable of wide angle (80 degree) selfie.
It is powered by a 3,000mAh battery which seems adept enough to run for long hours and also supports Quick charge 3.0 which promises to fully charge the device approximately in an hour.
Storage and Connectivity
Xiaomi packs its Mi 5 with 64GB of internal storage but does not provide an expandable memory card slot. It supports the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 4G connectivity with a maximum download speed of 600Mbps as well as dual SIM and VoLTE technology which promise better voice call audio quality. The other connectivity options include NFC and OTA among others.
Considering the impressive specs and improved aesthetics, the Mi 5 is an excellent flagship device capable of comfortably competing with the best of its peers and keeping the cost in mind, it indeed is one of the best options among the flagship devices.
