The dual screen Android smartphone

Display

A phone with a bright vibrant HD display and a paper like display to read ebooks seems like a concept but the Russian phone maker Yota has done just that. The amazing phone sports a 4.3 inch 720p HD display on the front and a 4 inch battery saving E-INK display akin to the Amazon kindle on the rear. The idea is when battery gets low instead of using the power sapping HD display, the phone can switch to the rear display and it is also quite convenient for night time reading.

Configuration and camera

The device comes with a 1.7 GHz Krait dual core processor by Qualcomm augmented with 2GB of RAM. Under the hood it is powered by Android 4.2 Jellybean and is expected to get the Kitkat update too.

The camera at 12 MP is very good and is capable of clicking high resolution pictures of 4000x3000 pixels. The front facing camera with 1.3 MP is no slouch and is capable of HD video calling over the 4G network

Storage and Battery

The Yotaphone comes with an option of 32 or 64GB of internal memory. Sadly this is not expandable but it is more than sufficient for average user needs. The battery at 1800 mAH seems a bit on a lower side for a phone with 2 displays and 4G connectivity.

Verdict

Some concept phones never make it to the market and just scintillate us, but Yota has come ahead and come out with a brilliant looking phone with a wonderful concept. The hardware looks to be packed and all there is left to be seen is whether Yota can overcome competition giants like Samsung and other Android makers.

Overall: Hi guys, -- 140 days of Usage Review...

Battery - Half day for full 3G usage.

Android Software - Needs an update, still running on Android 4.2.2.

My Experience using this phone :

I restart the phone at least once a day.

The software starts reacting itself, start calling those who are in the frequent list.

Camera : Only Good in places with bright light, 13 Megapixel not worth it...

    Planning to change my phone.

The worst part is the price drop.

    Thank you...

    Hi,
I am not an expert, but a new user of this phone.
I have just used 5 hours of this phone till now.
    The feel is solid.
As usual android OS, so no complaints.
Takes little time to learn to use the e-ink second screen.
Instead of Back button they have introduced Slides for navigation for both screens. Works good.
Just bought it because it was different, hope it works good...
Will update about the battery status and other info after 2 days of use.
As of now the phone is good.
    Thank you...
