ZTE's new device provides almost all that one expects out of a basic QWERTY handset – display, external memory and sufficient display size. Battery is a disappointment, but the device can nevertheless be useful for those seeking a budget QWERTY device with decent features.
ZTE's latest contender among QWERTY keypad devices is the S226, which comes with 1.8 inches of TFT display, having 128 x 160 pixels resolution and 65K colour depth, which is decent considering that QWERTY devices have smaller displays.
The device allows for external storage up to a limit of 2GB using microSD card, while also having provision for phonebook and SMS storage.
Connectivity features include WAP for internet browsing and microUSB connectivity. The device runs on a 670mAh Li-ion battery which gives 6 hours of talktime (2G) and 330 hours standby time.
