Digi Flop 701

This tablet was bought by me few days back. Flipkart service has always been good so I thought of giving their electronics a try. It's an in house production made by flipkart and I chose the product as I was looking for a low cost tablet that can be used while seated in a bus commuting. nWithin two days I am just irritated at the poor performance. I expected it to have few trade-off s but other than the android itself running smooth and the cost being low, there are no pros to this.nA few flaws that I need to mention,n1 Battery backup is pretty average, watching one movie urges for recharge. n2 On long use, the top half of the back heats up n3 Touch sensitivity and accuracy are not nice, often need to press inn4 Browsing in chrome is painful as it keeps laggingn5 Display brightness is not nice, quite dark watching videos even indoorsn6 A few places show poor built quality like the microusb and 3.5mm jack are kind of tight when plugging inn7 MicroSD slot does not have a cover or door which may accumulate dustnNot sure about other products in similar cost range, users need to be careful.

You get a little more than what you pay for

I ordered this tablet 2 days ago, and it was delivered within 24 hours, along with the free book cover. It was well packaged, and all accessories were included and were in good shape. nPros n1. The extremely low price. Any tablet is a steal at Rs. 3999/-, but other devices at this price are next to useless, having only 512 MB of RAM, small onboard storage, low resolution screens, and extremely weak CPUs. This is an entry level model, but is usable for most purposes. n2. Videos and text do not appear jagged, even though the screen only has a 1024x600 resolution. It is quite bright, although the screen guard that comes pre installed detracts from sunlight visibility just tiny bit. Book reading was easy, with even small font sizes being rendered well. n3. This device comes with almost no bloatware, except for the Flipkart and Myntra apps. It does not even have Youtube and other Google apps installed. The Play store is included, so installing apps is easy. n4. The build quality is excellent. The textured back provides a firm grip, and the chrome bezel gives it a premium look. The device does not feel cheap. It is not too heavy or bulky. n5. The onboard storage is more than enough for a multitude of large applications. However, music and other media will necessitate a MicroSD card. I was able to connect USB hard disks and pen drives using an OTG cable (Not included with device). It also detected ZTE and Huawei dongles. n6. GPS performance was good outdoors. and Google maps worked well. However, no GPS lock was gained indoors, even with a data connection enabled.n7. 720p and 1080p videos in all formats played without any lag, with two exceptions. FLV videos play only through the Software Decoder, and MKV 1080p videos are extremely laggy. The sound quality with Bose and Sennheiser headphones is good. The inbuilt speaker produces clear sound, but the volume is lower than expected. n8. As far as gaming performance goes, given the poor benchmark scores (point 3 in cons), I did not expect much. However, I was pleasantly Asphalt 8 had no lag. The loading screens in between races and menus did last longer than expected, but the racing itself was smooth. I faced other issues during gaming (point 8 in cons), but the Graphics performance afforded by the PowerVR SGX 544 GPU was good. nnCons n1. The battery life is short, which is to be expected. Watching a 4:30 long 1080p video took the battery from 98% to 94%. A few minutes of surfing on Wi-Fi took it down a further 4%. Gaming drained the battery quickly - playing Asphalt 8 drained it by 15% in 20 minutes. The only activity during which the battery lasted a long time was book reading, where the tablet only lost ~5% of the battery over 2 hours. n2. The device comes with Android 4.2.2 Jellybean. The KitKat update was released on 13/11/2014. The OS feels a little buggy, with a few crashes and lags during heavy tasks. However, it is quite usable. The recent December update causes it to restart randomly when not in use.n3. The CPU performance is underwhelming. It only get 18441 on AnTuTu, which is disappointing, since the selling point of Intel Atom CPUs is that they are full CISC chips, which provide better performances at lower clock rates. The HTML5 benchmarks came to 6640, which is decent. n4. While charging with the bundled charger, the device charges quickly. However, when using any other charger, like a car charger or one from a Samsung phone, charging is slower. Also, using 3rd party chargers causes the screen to develop a glitch. (See point 5) n5. The screen is not very sensitive. This is expected in a cheap tablet, but the screen behaves strangely when using 3rd party chargers, where a single touch yields 2 to 3 phantom touches, causing unpredictable behavior. n6. Most applications worked well. However, the bundled versions of MX Player and ES File Manager are buggy, and sometimes crash repeatedly. n7. The camera resolution is low, and is only suitable for video chatting. It has an extremely long shutter lag, and is useless for capturing images and videos in low light. There are very few options in the camera app, and the panorama mode is atrocious. n8. The G sensor performance was extremely inconsistent. It is unresponsive one second and too sensitive the next. I thought that it was just me being unused to such a control method during gaming, but I then noticed that the switching of the screen orientation is similarly inconsistent.nConclusion - The cons of this tablet are ones that are common among all entry level models. The only real defects are the issue with the screen during charging, and the faulty G sensor. One could have expected a little better performance from an Intel CPU, but ultimately, one is getting more than one expects from such a cheap tablet, so it is a worthwhile purchase, as long as one understands what it is capable of.

A good Tablet!

I bought this tablet from flipkart.com on 27/08/2014 and got it delivered on 07/09/2014 at my college premises. After using this tablet for a while I've noticed that it is a very good device for day-to-day use.It is highly affordable and efficient and can also be used as an e-book reader, movie player, music player etc.nnBut I've a few complaints with flipkart i.e.:n1)I didn't get my free book case with the tablet.n2)I didn't get the 70% off on digital magazine.n3)I didn't get the free ZTE 3G data card. nSo,nI request flipkart.com to please look into the matter at the earliest.nHoping for a positive reply soon from your side.nnOn the whole,an awesome tablet from flipkart.com at an extremely unbelievable price and a really great delivery service. But promises not yet fulfilled.Still waiting :(nHats Off!! nKeep Up the GOOD work.
