You get what you pay for..

I had bought this phone for my sister less than 3 months back. It is a good phone for its price range with decent enough features. But to be honest, it has given innumerable problems ever since it was bought. The phone has a peculiar problem of running into a rebooting loop once every couple of weeks which never ends unless you forcefully remove the battery as well as the memory card. Then I need to format the memory card in some other phone or computer and then insert it in order to make it work. In addition to that, it has another peculiar problem wherein the phone suddenly shows out of memory every few days and does not work at all unless I reset the phone back to factory settings which is a headache as I need to backup the contacts etc. before doing that and restore again after the reset. And the SMS are almost lost in each such factory reset. A third problem is that when I upgrade any preinstalled app in this phone, it overlaps the storage space (i.e. it occupies the phone memory space twice and it is already limited). There are many useless forced apps and to occupy their installation size twice means that there are hardly a few MBs left after upgrading the preinstalled apps. There is no guide on how to root this phone or I would have tried root once to try to fix it. Micromax does not release any firmware to fix out the issues too. Overall it has been a huge disappointment. I now repent purchasing the phone and for not purchasing the Samsung Galaxy Pocket or any other good brand phone then. Galaxy Pocket was only Rs.6200 or so then while this phone was Rs.4500. Within 3 months of my purchase, this phone's price has reduced by Rs.400 whereas Galaxy Pocket's price has increased by more than Rs.500. Now there are other low budget android options too such as Samsung Galaxy Duos Lite. I am not saying that this phone is very bad considering its cost but the problem is that you get what you pay for. There is a reason why reputed brands like Samsung, Nokia etc. are still trusted. Small brands like Micromax etc. might provide cheap but then cheap does not equate to quality. This has been the biggest disappointment for any mobile purchase I have done till date and this is the first time I went outside of a reputed brand while purchasing. They mobile has been giving problems since day one and I kept on thinking it will fix but nothing fixes and the problems keep on recurring. The memory card (Kingston) I had bought for this mobile also got damaged perhaps due to the frequent need of formatting etc. in the last 3 months. I have ordered another couple of Sandisk memory cards today from Flipkart to check if changing memory card fixes anything though I highly doubt it. I am not against Micromax or Chinese or any other products but I have learned the lesson the hard way. I would advise everyone to purchase only branded phones from good brands such as Samsung, Nokia, Sony, LG etc. rather than small companies. More often than not you will find better support, firmware upgrades and solutions in reputed brands but these small companies like Micromax keep on churning low quality mobile phones day in and day out and never try to fix the issues or provide support once released. In case of branded tablets etc. it costs a lot more than Chinese or small companies and so, the risk might be worth taking (I have been repenting after purchasing a Indian branded Chinese origin tablet too recently and that is another story). But in case of smartphones, the prices are quite competitive for top brands especially Samsung and so, it is advisable to opt for the same rather than terrible products of Micromax, Karbonn etc.

good phone, but a disappointment 2 days later, great service by flipkart

This phone from Micromax is loaded with almost all the features of a smartphone along with look and feel. Two days later, it turned out to be quite a disappointment. The battery needs frequent charging, and the phone keeps restarting, sometimes hanging. The only solution is restarting the phone, and until you know that it needs restarting, you have probably lost on a number of people trying to reach you and getting the message that the phone is switched off!!! Yet, very good service by Flipkart; the phone was delivered with very good packaging and condition. I wish they could have a technical review and put up only those gadgets on sale here which they can certify as having hassle-free operation.

A good economy class phone!!!

A good buy. This phone features all the necessary apps that today's latest touch phones has got.The phone's got a cool appearance too.The best part - it has got Android 2.3.The touch sensitivity is pretty satisfactory.I was surprised to see the head phones set.It is not a conventional earphone set.Its a single wired, round the neck headset.Once you start using the phone, i bet you get a feeling of using a proper android Samsung touch mobile which i think it offers around Rs.10,000.Overall a big thumps up for this phone. One who is looking for a decent touch phone with a medium budget can definitely go for this!!! Good job done flip kart in its delivery!!!
