Value for money tablet

After a lot of research, I narrowed my choice to the IS703C after reading many positive reviews and more importantly which fell under my budget.nnThe positive aspects about this tablet includesn1) It has got sufficient 1GB RAM to run your required applications, a decent memory of 8GB to store your data and a good solo-core Cortex A8 processor to run your tasks efficiently.n2) The Android ICS is a great platform and touch screen response is commendable.n3) Connecting to internet and working on internet is a breeze be it with Wi-Fi or dongle.n4) Using Skype with a 0.3 MP camera is just fine but could have been better.n4) Working on documents such as Word and Excel is easy however, conventional computer cannot replace it entirely.n5) The tablet can be used for continuously 6 hours without internet and close to 3 hours using internet. (Haven't tried playing games yet)nnThe negative aspects of this tablet includesn1) Very low volume. If you want to watch a movie with your friend, then the external speaker may not be a good option. Instead listening to the audio using a good quality head phones or connecting to the TV using a HDMI cable is a better option.n2) It has been over two weeks after my purchase and the only time I faced a hang is when I was moving my applications to my 32GB MicroSD card. After a restart, the applications have been erased and I had to load them again into my internal memory. So, I would suggest you to keep your applications in your internal memory rather than your external to have a smooth experience.n3) If you have a MicroSD card and would like to transfer files into it, then it is better you transfer them using a card reader instead of directly plugging the tablet to your computer. You might have to wait for a really long time for small files to get transferred.nnOverall, purchasing a product for this price is a good buy.nJust because I experienced a few drawbacks, I would rate this table 4/5.

Nice tablet that fits your budget

Bought this tablet after going through all the +ves and -ves reported on net. These are purely my observations. This could vary with others' experiences.nn* The specs are impressive for this price rangenn* Touch sensitivity and screen response are goodnn* Brightness is fine in indoors but strictly not for outdoorsnn* It gets warmed slightly after using for 45 min or 1 hour, but no heating as reported by some usersnn* Battery life is ok (don't have high expectations here)nn* To conserve battery keep these switched off when not in use:n1. WiFin2. Mobile Datan3. Accounts and Syncn4. Sleep time (not more than 2 min)n5. Do not install/use Live Wallpapers. Use static ones.nn* Sound quality is ok (remember it is a budget tab)nn* It works with almost all of the 2G/3G USB dongles available in the market. Do this as given in Technical FAQ section of Pantel website:nn1. Insert the dongle in USB port when the tab is switched offn2. Switch on the tabn3. Go to Settings -> Enable both Packet Data and Data Roamingn4. After few seconds, you should see 3G or some symbol in the Notification area (bottom right corner)n5. By default, the tab selects the correct APN. If there is still no connectivity, select the appropriate APN and enter the details of your mobile carrier.n6. If still no luck, click on Refresh default APN option from the menu (3 vertical dots on right top corner)n7. I tested on Huawei E1731 7.1 Mbps 3G dongle from Airtel. It worked like a charm ! APN is Airtel Internet (airtel.gprs.com). Did not change any of the default values. Do NOT select MMS or other APNs.nn* Connected to computer with OTG cable provided in the box with out any issues. Tab will NOT charge when connected to PC/Mac.nn* ICS 4.0.3 comes ROOTED in this tab !!! Install apps like Link2SD, Root Browser and do whatever you want.nn* No option to upgrade to 4.1 (Jelly Bean). But some information will be available in the net how to upgrade sooner or later.nn* Yet to test HDMI connectivity, will do this weeknn* Not yet installed micro SD, but will do so shortlynn* 0.3 mp front facing camera is oknn* Pre-installed apps:nn1. Browsers: Android, Chrome and Opera Mini (3 of them !!!)n2. Games: Angry Bids, Shoot the applen3. Office suite - docs, ppt, xlsn4. Gmail, Email (any incoming/outgoing mail server can be configured), Corporate Emailn5. Nimbuzz, Skype, Facebook, Twittern6. Google Play, Maps, Youtube, Latitude, Voice Searchn7. Adobe Flash Player, Vortex player, 2 File Managers, Audio playernn* I will be "satisfied" if this tab works properly for 6 months !

Pretty good for the price range....read on....

review of BSNL Penta IS703C TabnnThe appraisal of the tab really depends upon your needs and usage pattern. hence I've divided the review into two sections one for those who will likely not do anything more than browsing and light word processing and gaming and for those who'll use it for more rigorous purposes including coding. nnfor light users nRating 3.5/5nScreen is quite bright and vivid. don't expect tegra level graphics but its more or less good. touch is responsive and almost the whole screen responds to the same level of pressure which indicates its a reliable screen. my set had no issues except certain black spaces in the browser which may have been related to incorrect rendering of the flash and Java objects. nnprocessor is good as long as one doesn't run too many tasks on it. I ran temple run, docs2go and the native browser and music player in tandem and it ran pretty good. however there was certain lag in the browsing when the HD videos were run windowed with Moboplayer while running the same apps in background. gaming performance is decent with temple run and Raging thunder going pretty well till about two hours gaming. it started showing some lag thereafter. however running two games simultaneously caused lag. nnVideo playback is decent full HD is reasonably vivid but on the screen 720p and full HD appear more or less the same. games in HD are also clear enought in detail though it's not comparable to the Samsung Tabs.nnAudio playback through either the earphones or the speaker (irritatingly placed almost dead center of the back) is poor. Mixzing and Maven player failed to do any good and the only improvement was by changing earphones. Be prepared for canned squeaky zplayback that will be inaudible if the tablet is placed against a wall or flat on the table. nnthere is also a strange problem of earphones with straight jacks as opposed to ones with L shaped jacks giving trouble. the output is erratic. I'm not sure why this problem occurs (repeated twisting is the only solution ) but its not unique to this device. nnanother minor issue is the cluttering up of the base panel with icons whenever the tablet is changed from landscape to potrait. nnoverall not bad a buy for the price if the light use is all you're planning. nnfor heavier users nnrating 2.5/5nnserious problems emerge when you try to do more with the tab. First there is the problem of recognizing pointer devices. mouse fails to be recognised and no solution has yet been found for this issue. nnserious gaming tends to slow down the processor and causes hanging and pixelation. crashes are occasional. connectivity with Xbox controllers however I honestly haven't tried out. battery drain while gaming for long periods is considerable. nnThe tablet has problems with rooting. although I've not exhaustively checked the issue but normal apps like z4root fail to do anything more than get hung at 'running exploit to gain root access ". neither are any root privileges directly accessible. (no superuser or busybox ). no backup of the stock rom can be made and applications needing root will simply fail to make any changes. I believe certain devices need additional steps to root it. suggestions from other reviewers would really help as I'm likely not going to try out all that's prescribed on the net. nnThe tab doesn't seem to have any system updates in the offing nor do the custom rom makers seem terribly keen on making ports of popular custom roms for this device. the upshot of this is we're stuck with all the problems there are in the software. nnlastly there are some issues with mounting USB and micro sd at the same time. some Apps refuse to work and occsssionslly the mounting of the USB storage device will not work. may be specific device based issue but this slate is all I've got to work with. nnextensive use will cause battery drain really fast and you can expect a sleepy speed of charging when using the tab at the same time. nnhence you get two ratings. decide based on what you would like to use it for. honestly if you're going in for heavy use a 10000+ tab may pinch the pocket but it'll serve you better. for the rest this is as good as any you'll get this quarter in this price segment. nhope this helped. nnAritra

You will not regret !!

I bought this from a BSNL shop yesterday as its out of stock in flipkart and I am happy with this tablet. After all you are getting 1GB RAM and 1 GHz processor in 7K only. nn-> Sound is not good but its ok in headphone. n-> 0.3 MP camera is sufficient for video chatting, anyway you are not using this for photo shooting. n-> two games 'Angry birds' and 'shoot the apple' is preinstalled. n-> Google Play is preinstalled (Some r saying that its not there, but I have).n-> Capacitive touch is better than any micromax tablets.n-> Battery backup is good.nnAll I can say is You will not regret after buying this.nnAnd I got a USB data cable and a headphone in the BOX.. :D
