It wont even stand a chance against the Nexus 7 second generation. Nexus is even lighter at 290 gm. Even more thinner. The display is HD with 326 ppi.Highest on any tablet. Tab 3 is just an incremental update over tab 2 wont recommend buying.
Really this is a pathetic product from Samsung. The first day after my purchase was a disaster. An error called "Kernel Panic upload mode" came many times and got struck unless force/hard restart. please do not waste time in purchasing this product. Being a samsung fan I am completely disappointed
Such a god awful tablet. That too by Samsung. Don't waste your money. Go for Nexus. Such a big disappointment, and an utter wastage of my cash. Really this is a pathetic product from Samsung. Useless and no innovation from samsung, cheap product... they keep on releasing something with no value added.

Those who think they should have bought Nexus 7 instead, beware. Please note the following things:nn1) Nexus can't play mkv, avi files etc. Samsung cann2) the speaker volume of Nexus is only 30 % of Samsungn3) can't use WiFi direct in Nexus, can use in Samsungnnand those who think Samsung does not provide headphone, actually Nexus doesn't. I have both Nexus and Samsung so can do the comparison.nnThe picture quality of both Samsung and Nexus are good. Processing speed of Samsung tab is not bad either.nnI give full marks to Samsung.
