Good but nothing fancy

This laptop deserves 5 stars, but I am taking away 2 stars because of a reason I will talk later. The packing was good, with Asus Seal.nnFirstly, the laptop is of great utility, and performs really well. Display quality is very good, videos look sharp. Google Chrome works fine, as long as you limit yourself to 10-15 tabs. It runs the full Windows 10, so don't worry about it. Ofcourse, you cannot play heavy games or do video editing. Daily tasks like internet browsing, movie watching, YouTube, emails, light Photoshop editing, Microsoft office, light coding - all works fine. Sound quality is very good. nnNow, the problem I faced was within 2 weeks, the touchpad stopped working. Flipkart didn't replace because it happened on the 11th day ironically. I had to give it for repair. Asus did a home pickup as the laptop comes with on-site warranty. The laptop was fixed, touchpad replaced within a week. All fine now. But, it does raise concern about the quality here. The service guy opened the laptop infront of me and the quality of materials looked very good otherwise. Maybe I was unlucky here.

Nice product

The E200-HA from Asus is the replacement to the aging X205TA, which was one of the better sub-$200 Windows 8 laptops. That device had very similar specs: 32 GB eMMC, 2 GB RAM, 2 USB 2.0 ports, a 1366x768 display - but it had Windows 8.1 and it had the Intel Atom 3775F processor, from the Bay Trail generation.nnThis new device ships with Windows 10, and also upgrades the processor to the new Cherry Trail generation x5-Z8300. This is the same processor from the Intel Compute Stick 2016, and is in the same chip generation - but a slower version - as the processor in the Microsoft Surface 3 2-in-1.nnLet's start with Windows 10, which is in my opinion a significantly better OS than Windows 8.1, and it also runs very well on lower end hardware. The x5 processor is snappy and responsive in core OS functions like booting up, shutting down, opening Windows Explorer and managing settings. Set-up on this device is extremely easy, especially if you already have a Microsoft account. There aren't a ton of Windows 10 updates needed, and that process is smooth and easy, and if you log into your existing MS account, your theme and settings will sync over to this device.nnThe x5-Z8300 processor has a base speed of 1.44 GHz with turbo to 1.84 GHz, and is a quad-core processor. It has performance that is mostly in-line with the outgoing Bay Trail processors, but it has improved graphics processing performance, with more Execution Units : 12 in Cherry Trail, vs. 4 on Bay Trail. Octane 2.0 and Geekbench benchmarks will show similar performance to Bay Trail in most respects, so don't expect a leap in performance; that said, Bay Trail was itself a reasonably good performer for the price.nnBattery life was exceptional on the X205TA and that trend continues here. This laptop can run for 8-10 hours in mixed use with 70% brightness, including video streaming, word processing, and web browsing. It is an all-day device. It is also exceptionally light, at only 2.16 pounds; this laptop has the same body as the X205TA, which isn't a bad thing. It is a budget device. but it looks professional and has a nicely textured plastic lid and frame. The keyboard feels less "sharp" to type on than that of the X205TA, but it is a relatively small keyboard; it isn't full-size, but I got used to it very quickly.nnThe screen is quite good for a budget device. It is a glossy display, so it is reflective, but the tradeoff is that it is bright and vibrant compared to the HP Stream 11 or Acer Cloudbook 11. The trackpad is also improved from the X205TA. That device's trackpad had constantly crashing drivers, whereas this one's has worked consistently during two weeks of use. It obviously isn't a MacBook trackpad, but cheap Windows trackpads are much better than they used to be: this one is responsive, and works with gesture controls (unlike the Lenovo 100s.)nnFor connectivity this device has two USB ports, now with one 3.0 and one 2.0, and has 802.11ac WiFi which is fast and has good range. It has micro-SD card slot, and a micro-HDMI for external display; the latter will require you to have an adapter or an HDMI-to Micro-HDMI cable on-hand, which isn't ideal. RAM is still 2 GB and storage is still 32GB of eMMC flash storage. I am hoping that Asus will release a version with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of eMMC flash storage, as both of those options would be much more comfortable and provide better longevity for this laptop. That said, you can get by with 2 GB of RAM as long as your multitasking expectations are reasonable, and users will have about 15 GB of useable space for local installation after accounting for Windows 10 and the immediate updates the OS requires.nnMS Office runs quite well on x5-Z8300 systems, provided you're staying with more basic functions; advanced macros, templates, and complex presentations will bog down badly due to the processor and RAM limitations.nnThe web browsing experience in the Edge browser is good, considering the price point of the hardware. Mindblowing purchase

This a great notebok if your basic needs are browsing the web. The notebook is light and really portable. It's great for people on the move. The boot up time is also good. A value for money product.
