Pathetic Laptop

The laptop in made in china, with non removable battery. For first 20 days it worked like a charm. Then It stopped working after 20 days, because it was not able to detect the hard disk. when asked for replacement it took 5 days to schedule a dell service visit. Also the Received CD along with the product was having lot of scratch, so i assume it was used and replaced in past. After another 2 days, they rejected the return request mentioning that they are not able to contact on provided number. Pathetic service by Flipkart. I was having a wrong different opinion before this. This was third worst experience with flipkart. Just for information, I am very old flipkart customer, If you see my orders details the total order is more than 2 lakhs. so they do not consider the loyalty as well.

Great Value For Money!! 24k for this config and the weight is just 1.2kg

I got this laptop from snapdeal at 23.5k only, so bought it from there and received it in a day. So, no issues. Flipkart price is 26k, 2.5k more than snapdeal. Pro's: 1. Very light weight. 2. Value for money. 3. Great configuration. Con''s: 1. Just 3 hrs of battery charge. 2. Average touchpad. 3. Average Keyboard. Rating of components with rrspect to this pricing. Keyboard: 4stars Touchpad: 3stars Configuration : 5stars Display: 4stars Battery : 3stars Processor: 4stars Using this for a week now and is worth every single penny u spend on this beast. Tough u can compare it with many standout devices with a better config, but if u are looking for a light weight laptop with a great config, there is nothing better than this in the market. I am simply loving using it and there seem to be no problems whatsoever till now, everything seems great. Boot up Windows 8 into it and it runs like butter.

A nice buy. But not completely satisfied.

First, the worst: Though this product has many qualities that will make you love it, I am a bit disappointed about the touchpad. It is a bit noisy when you click buttons, not so smooth while you swipe, lags/misses some swipes and then you have to swipe repeatedly to get some real grip. Yes; it is very broad that it occupies 1/3 rd of the bare surface. All other features are very good. It's very light, handy, nice build. Good performance with i3 and on-board 4GB RAM. easy operations. Fast file copying. Windows Exp Index CPU : i3-3217U CPU @ 1.80GHz - 6.2 RAM 4.00 GB - 5.9 Graphics Intel(R) HD4000 - 4.6 (I don't care) Gaming graphics 1696 MB - 6.0 HDD - 5.9 Sound :I find it enough and am content with it. I don't expect a 100W RMS o/p from this poor piece. Display : Good, Bright. Battery : Yet to test. It is in-built ( I mean, not seen externally and non-removable) All components are packed into it. ie, internal. Cannot remove RAM/HDD/Battery without spoiling warranty. :( Power Adapter: A cute piece, resembles mobile chargers. CAPS lock indicator : Present Sir. :) Heat: During the installation, there was considerable amount of heat being expelled. But now, it outputs only warm air. All ports are arranged on both side starting from the display hinge end. It facilitates easy movement of hands, never obstructed by cables, jacks protruding. Asus Products : I have been using Asus from the last 3 years. What I love about it is user friendliness. First the chiclet keyboard, I find it better than others (especially toshiba). Then, Touch pad with smart gesture support; easing the navigation. Final Verdict : VFM, Good buy, Best for frequent travelers. Go for it.

Manufacturing Defects

There is no other product currently in the market that offers this combination of specifications and price-point. Intel Core I3 processor with 4GB RAM and 500GB HDD. VGA + HDMI ports. Most portable machines these days skimp heavily on ports. The experience has not been pleasant so far: The laptop does not come with MS Windows. I have installed Ubuntu 14.04. Though Ubuntu is working flawlessly, lack of cheap OEM Windows means that many users will simple install a pirated version of Microsoft's OS and Microsoft will continue to only offer a horribly over-priced OS and crib about lack of sales. The Escape key, The Up-Arrow key and the Down-Arrow key on the laptop have stopped working. Dead. Their response from day one was very erratic and just beyond Flipkart's product return window, the keys have died altogether. Now I have to run around with Asus's pathetic service centers and essentially be stranded with a 'refurbished' laptop purchased a 'new retail' price. My previous Asus EeePC also developed Mouse-button problems soon after purchase and required running around for service. The second Asus purchase has proved no different. Comparatively, both my Acer laptops are working flawlessly and so are the hundred HP/Compaq/Dell laptops at office. Update: 22 July 2014: I am now the proud owner of a third Asus Laptop that has come with manufacturing defects. I purchased another X200CA-KX219D laptop from Amazon on 19-July and it arrived on 21-July with a bright-red stuck pixel and defective touch pad button (left click). Both the X200CA laptops are now currently resting at Asus's service center. So the bottom-line is that you pay the full price for Asus products and in less than a month they are reduced to being refurbished products (worth less than half).

Good value for money

EDIT: I had a bit of an issue with charging since 2nd week of having this(sometimes it charged while plugged in, sometimes it didn't). One evening(1 month since I bought it) I was playing a game and was on battery, I didn't notice it was nearly empty, when it was critically low, i had to turn it off, and I put it to charging. But it would not turn on, so I took it to the service center. For two weeks I was being told that they are waiting for replacement parts, and later a replacement laptop yet. These two weeks have turned to more than two months now and I have neither a refund nor a replacement. The laptop was decent for what the cost but I cannot recommend it to anyone because of extremely bad service from ASUS. Do not buy this one because they seem to have stopped production, and no spares or replacement units are available. original review: Bought this to replace old netbook. Tried Ubuntu 14.04 on live USB, WiFi, most fn keys, touchpad gestures etc. worked fine out of the box. Installation was a bit of a hassle because the BIOS did not have a legacy mode, only UEFI and this is the first time I had to deal with it. (live boot Ubuntu, use gparted to format hard disk with a GPT partition table, create efi system partition as 200mb fat32, set boot flag on it, create more partitions as needed, all primary, in Ubuntu 14.04 64bit installer, use the efi partition you created for bootloader install location). Haven't tried windows on it yet, will do so soon. Battery backup is a bit disappointing, only 2.5-3 hours. Left side near the fan outlet gets a bit hot. Plastic body seems sturdy. Screen brightness is good, maybe a little bit uneven around the edges. Sound through earphones/headphones was good, noticeably better than on anything else I have, desktop, phone, netbook. Don't use built in speakers much but the output was okay I think. WiFi reception is a tiny bit worse than my old netbook's so I have to keep my router at a new position. Also, for this resolution, 11.6 is the perfect size, 15.6" is just Huge. Overall, quite satisfied as of now.
