Good quality product

Received this in 5 days. The laptop was packed in 3mm bubble wrap and then put in a box. So it was safe and sound. I registered the product for warranty on the official MyAsus app and it got registered, while the dedicated app for product registration showed that the product has already been registered. Build quality is good with a tad bit of flex in the screen and chasis. The processor handles everything like butter, especially in multi threaded operations, however, more CPU intensive applications demand at least an i7. NVIDIA Optimus switches off the GPU when not in use to save battery, which brings me to a weakness in this laptop - it's battery. It is not good, 4 hours maximum on full charge. The keyboard is good with decent travel and well spaced keys, the tracking uses precision drivers, so there's no questioning it. The buttons click nicely. The screen is not an average TN Panel, but it lacks brightness. The model I got delivered has Hynix RAM and SSD, which is a renowned company in South Korea. It has 1TB SSHD which is faster than average HDD. Boot time is 6-7 seconds. I haven't tried any games, will update soon with each game's FPS. One thing I've noticed is that the charger does not plug in quite well into the charging port, it wobbles a bit. And the screen wobbles very slightly too under a room fan (I have very fast spinning room fans). UPDATE: So I ran few AAA titles and everything works super smooth at Ultra-High settings. For newer games, dial it down to high. The thermals on this thing are amazing. The fans get a little loud in Boost mode, but they prevent the CPU and GPU from crossing 60-65 degrees. I recommend headphones while gaming (using boost mode).

Terrific

Bought this laptop very soon after it became available on Flipkart. I had concerns if the specs were correct, but I can confirm the specs given here by Flipkart is accurate. i5-8300H and 1050Ti combo is great, can play any modern games at high settings smoothly. Everything else works extremely fast as well. The i5 8th gen processors are a significant improvement over last year's 7th gen processors, especially in multi threaded workloads. This means things like Android Emulator for developing android apps and operating systems inside virtual box, rendering videos etc runs extremely well. The default settings allow the 1050Ti to be used only when laptop is charging, this can be changed in windows settings but battery drains extremely fast when 1050Ti is used all the time. The 120W adapter is strong enough to charge the laptop up while gaming. The area of the keyboard around the O, P and L keys gets very warm while gaming. I was initially concerned but detailed reviews online seems to suggest these temperatures are normal. The area around the WASD keys have a fan directly underneath them and is always kept cool. Turning on fan overboost mode significantly reduces the temperatures, I recommend to use it all the time while gaming. The GPU and CPU are kept at 65-75 C while gaming and does not thermal throttle regardless of fan overboost being on or off. The left palm-rest is always very slightly warmer than the right palm-rest (due to the hard disk directly beneath) and can be mildly annoying for some people. The screen is an IPS display with 60hz refresh rate, very good color and contrast as expected from an IPS screen. The fan noise is acceptable in silent or balanced fan mode, but it is quite high when fan overboost is turned on. Using headphones highly recommended while gaming. Battery life is decent, I get about 3.5 - 4 hours on battery while web surfing and watching movies. The speakers get surprisingly loud, as loud as a small dedicated bluetooth speaker. The bass is lacking however and sound distorts at very high volumes. The quality of the included mic and webcam is average at best. The keyboard has red backlighting with 3 levels of brightness. But at the lowest level of brightness the lights under many keys noticeably start flickering, so I recommend to at least put it on 2nd level of brightness. The ASUS logo on the lid lights up red when the screen is on, which is very cool. Some things that most people fail to notice: The SSD in it is a PCIe SSD, which is about 70% faster than a SATA SSD present in laptops like Acer Predator and Acer Nitro, which is a pretty noticeable difference. (Windows boots in 5-7 seconds) The 8GB of RAM is clocked at 2666MHz (most other laptops in the segment have 2400MHz RAM) which is nice. The hard disk is a hybrid hard disk (I thought this was exclusive to US models, was surprised to find it in Indian variant as well) which means it will load frequently accessed files (such as your most played games) much faster than a regular hard disk. One thing I didn't like is the device does not come with a warranty card, I'm told to just use the Flipkart invoice for claiming warranty which is very questionable. But overall a great device, very glad I made this purchase!

Simply awesome

UPDATE : Some people telling they have throttling issue that causes screen stuttering issue in games. I also faced that issue initially but it solved when I update to Windows 10 1803 version. I'm playing fortnite on epic settings and get 60-70 fps (i got this after new nvidea driver update previously it was 55-60) also if you set shadows only(rest others epic) to high then fps goes above 70 always. If you bought this laptop and faced screen stuttering issue due CPU throttle, then just update to Windows 10 1803. If you already in Windows 10 1803 then clean installation will surely works. 1.First i want to mention that, this laptop has IPS panel instead TN panel because viewing angle is excellent(TN panels won't give that much viewing angle on vertical) 2. It has Firecuda SSHD and 128GB SSD 3. i5 8300H performance is better than i7 7700HQ 4. 1050Ti is great. (PUBG High : 50-65fps) 5. Speaker is good. 6. Asus logo on lid glows on red color 7. Build quality is worth for money 8. Great WiFi Reception. 9. RAM DDR4 2666MHz. 10. Overall it's a great laptop for this price point. simply it's a beast.
