Before reading the review, do remember that this is a Point and Shoot (advanced though it is) and not a DSLR. Some features comes exclusively with a DSLR. You cannot expect a P&S to go above and beyond its primary category. Also, the SX 510 is not even a high end bridge camera. So based on your specific needs and budget, you need to make a choice. (All that said, a lot of things in photography is ultimately about the photographer - and not about the camera.)nnNow the review: n nI have been waiting for a couple of days to get acquainted with the camera before writing a review. So far, I love this camera. I'm a food blogger and my primary purpose of using this camera is for food photography. (I'm well acquainted with working with limited capability cameras for this.) Though the camera is not designed for food photography, it's giving me extremely good photos. The zoom is great and can be worked to your advantage if you know how to go about it. Also, You most definitely have to make use of the manual controls the SX 510 offers. (Why go for an advanced P&S otherwise?) The clarity of the photos are good and the image stabilization feature is great for someone like me with unsteady hands. The weight (or lack of it rather) is also good for prolonged shoots.nnI bought the camera from WS Retail. Just as usual, they were prompt with the delivery and the packaging was also good.nnNow for some slight cons.nnThe first one is not a deal breaker. The camera has no view finder. But the LCD screen works well enough in all situations. So I have included this as an info rather than something that is a disadvantage. nnSecondly, the camera pack has no interface cable. You have to either use a compatible one that you already have or bu a new one. It didn't strike me when I was going through the product description here. (I happened to have an old cable that was compatible. So while I didn't have any issues with this lack of cable, other people might need to know it specifically.) nnDo note that I have not experimented much with the video quality of the camera as I don't have much use for it.nnAs a further note to flipkart : Please include a complete set of photos for the product. It is no fun going to other sites and having to check out their photos to buy from you guys.
After a lot of research, I finally chose Canon SX 510HS. It is definitely better than a point and shoot camera but has certain cons too which depends on persons.nnPlus points:n1. It is lighter than what it looks like.n2. Very easy UI.n3. Perfect cam for beginners before going into a full fledged DSLR.n4. Pretty good zoom (the main plus).n5. Within budget compared to Canon SX50HS.nnNow here comes the minus points:n1. selective color photo highlighting only blue/orange with others in grayscale feature is absent.n2. Background defocus absent (major blow).n3. battery life - at max 220 shots (frugal usage, settings).n4. USB sharing way better than unwanted Wifi sharing.n5. Widescreen does not look like widescreen photo at all. :(nnWith all these points in consideration, Canon SX50HS would be THE AWESOME choice.nHowever, SX510HS is a good camera for amateurs and only for them!!
Its an awsome camera...Canon has reduced the MP and increased the sensitivity of the sensor...Consequently...better picture that other 18MP cameras in the market....Remember....ONLY Flipkart can deliver on Time!!!...However, I had purchased the camera from somewhere else....and it arrived much late...
I am happy with this purchase. The camera displays minute features without having to go for the DSLR accessories.nThe prompt service from flipkart is also highly appreciated
