Hi nDell has come up with one of best budget laptops really liked it n4th Gen I3 processor is fast enough nnonly demerit is ubuntu but that can be upgraded to Windows 7 nnlaptop is sturdy and came with free antivirus nnno noise - battery strong enough nnspeaker sound is bit low but all others ok
Body looks local. Battery life is not good. Does not last for long on WiFi, internet or some installations. For personal use this laptop is OK like ms office on windows. Linux is works well since all drivers are free and ahipsbwith the OS. Windows drivers not given along with product which is a draw back
Everything works fine battery backup isvery good approx 5 to 6 hours .But warranty on this product ,which was delivered to is only 6 months. And purchase date shows 20 dec 2015 but I have ordered this laptop on 27 may and was delivered on 1 june ...Only warranty problem and it's big problem.
There is a prob in touchpad...I returned first then that sent me another same model but in that also ter is touchpad issue but less then before ...after downloading drivers it seems like OK...but compare to my prev laplap dell n110 its not good...overall in this range its a budget laptop
Update on 13-Aug-2015: As of today, I stand corrected. Dell, India turned out to be a big sham. The charging connector of this laptop is extremely fragile and inferior. Part of the connector port got stuck in the laptop while I was taking out the charger. And thanks to Dell's pathetic technical support, they are denying me the accidental warranty, saying its my fault. So, I'm sitting sitting on a broken, unusable laptop just within an year of buying it - Never go for Dell :-(nn------------nInspiron 3542 arrived today by Flipkart. Very satisfied by delivery and service, I got it promptly within a day since I'd opted for the one-day guarantee. Now coming to the product, here is what I felt after an initial usage: nPros:n1. Solid performance (i3+4GB-RAM rocks!)n2. Good overall build-quality.n3. New chicklet keyboard rocks (Typing is smooth like a butter with this. Having used a Toshiba Satellite for a long time, I was positively surprised) nCons:n1. Touchpad surface is a bit uneven on the right-edge compared to the attached assembly. Though it is usable, they could have done it better.n2. Some issues with brightness and usb dongles. Though, in all fairness, this is a con of ubuntu rather than the Dell machine. The first issue I faced is that brightness setting is not saved upon restarts (unless you do some geeky stuff like edit the /etc/rc.local file to set an initial brightness). Second issue is frequent disconnection of my tata-photon dongle. This could be resolved by upgrading to 14.04 as it doesn't happen there (I really feel that Dell should have opted for 14.04 instead of 12.04 as their base OS here)
