I always buy Dell desktops and laptops mostly because of their brilliant after sales service. No questions asked - they replace broken parts with 24-48 hours and frequently follow-up to ensure that your problem is resolved. Their products cost 10-20% more on account of this, but it is a price I am happy to pay after some bad brushes with Acer and Lenovo. My regular laptops are a Dell Vostro and a Dell Latitude. The Latitude is built like a tank but is over 5 years old now and the Vostro too seems to have better construction quality than this Inspiron. But the Inspiron is significantly lighter which is a good thing if you carry your laptop around. I would have liked a backlit keyboard and fingerprint reader but perhaps at this price point, it is too much to ask. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate and downloading the drivers from the Dell website was very simple. I also had to update the BIOS. The i3 processor with 4 GB RAM is more than sufficient for everyday computing. I am not used to this keyboard yet and prefer a conventional laptop keyboard layout. The arrow keys here are small and there is a number pad laid out on the right side. Personally, I find it useless. The touchpad is a new design and once again, I am still not used to it and hence prefer the regular touchpad buttons. Would I recommend the product? Sure. I still hope Dell launches their chromebooks in India soon. Those are the best to carry around.
the laptop is good in speed but try to change the os as windows 10...ubuntu is a free os....na it is little too big...the color is good but the design is not up to the mark...but especially the speakers are very worst..without headset we cant hear anything...

Just 3 days of my purchase, I find it to be a nice performer but delicate. had few issues with the drivers but all sorted out through the customer care of dell.
I ordered for Dell inspiron 3542 laptop, but flipkart has sent me defect screen laptop. I asked them for replacement immediately after one day which I received. I lost faith in flipkart. I suggest buyers don't purchase these laptops in flipkart. My children were very much disappointed with this lap as they sent defect piece.
