This is a very good laptop for everyday work and little bit of programming. But this is definitely not for linux users. The ubuntu (12.04) that comes with the laptop freezes at least twice a day. And the keyboard does not have a SysRq key. I tried moving to Fedora. But in vain because of the dreaded BCM43142. No AP support for creating a wireless hot spot
Wanted a laptop to for home use but also to run some workloads. Virtual Machines and Photo Editing. Went for This model as the Build quaility is good and hinges looks durable commpared to Lenovo. Pros:- Got it for good price 36K .There is a 10 % cash back which i will get from citibank next month on this. & Free Logitech Wireless Mouse . 4GB single stick RAM 1600MHZ. . So can upgrade to 8GB with another 4gb Stick in the free slot. CPU is 3.6GHZ i5 with tubo boost to 3.2GHZ. HDD is 500GB Western Digital 7200 RPM . 1 year complete care warranty from Dell. Big Screen 15.6" . Battery life not bad lasted me for close to 4 hours. Adapter is 90w . The power cord from ac power socket to adapter is very short. Windows 7 installs fine , all drivers avialble on dell site. Ordered on Saturday , got it delviered on tuesday . Packaging was good. Get a Dell Backpack from targus . 4 USB 3.0 Ports . Im running 4 Vms on it and it performs well. Overall good laptop , recommend it .

Its THE BEST. I am proud while dealing with them. CONS: >> Getting heat >> Quite heavy (Agreed one for the 15.6 size) >> Optionally they may include windows drivers in DVD in their packaging. We have to spend almost an hour for getting the drivers from dell if we decided to install Windows >> Power cord length is small when compared to other makes >> No bluetooth LED / hot key
My review posted here earlier was deleted twice. It was because Flipkart doesn't allow me to write about their service except in cases where it is good. The laptop is a good choice if you do not care for looks but on performance. The specifications are very good. Also, you have full warranty from Dell for 1 year. This came in handy for me as I received a defective laptop whose motherboard did not function. Even though I couldn't get my order replaced, I got the laptop repaired from Dell.
I got this lappy around 45 days before and hence writing this review. First of all lets talk about the Flipkart service.. I purchased this laptop whem Flipkart was offering an attractive 15% cashback in collaboration with Standard Chartered bank.It was initially conveyed that 15% cash back will be credited to the concerned account by 30th Nov 2013 but they extended the date to 5th Dec 2013 and this was well informed by them. When the amount was not credited to my account till 5th Dec ,then I talked to Flipkart customer care and they said it will be done in next 48 hrs and this was communicated via email too, but nothing of that sort happened.I again called to the Flipkart and they said that the old case has been proceessed and closed which actually shocked me. .I requested them for new complain and they did that but this time also I was communicated via email that my request has been processed ,but the fact is that I have still not received my money. I feel that I have made payment to flipkart on their terms so its totally their responsibility to get it done.After making calls and emails again and again also I have still not been refunded my money.(Flipkart has confirmed me via email that I will get Rs. 5000 Cashback.) but thats seems fake as its already 15 days. I then thought of Contacting the Bank but no proper solution was given by them. Flipkart experience this time has been very painful to me but I am still hopeful from their end. As far as laptop is concerned its a very sturdy and good looking but is heavy compared to others of 15.6 inch laptop.Performance is good and the battery lasts to upto 2.5 to 3 hrs. If weight and size is ok for you then its highly recommended.
