Despite its success, the Nine Network didn't think a female-driven series would appeal to audiences and the show was not picked up. Five years later, Nine decided to produce the series, and it proved to be a hit, with the first episode attracting 1.89 million viewers. It quickly became one of Australia's most popular drama series. The first season was released on a 5-VHS set in Australia. A 6-disc DVD set was released in Australia on 9 September 2003, consisting of all 22 episodes and the earlier telemovie. The first season won Lisa Chappell a Silver Logie Award for Most Popular New Female Talent. The show was also nominated for a Silver Logie for Most Popular Australian Drama.
