Highly capable performance machine

I bought this product from a different store and have been using it for 2 months, and mine has a 4K screen. I am really impressed by this product. It is going to be a slightly lengthy review(its my first review)nnFirst to the specs.nProcessor : Its an 6th Gen i7 QUAD core processor, unlike i7 U series which are dual core. This one has two more cores extra and comes in handy for resource intensive applications. Also, it has a 6MB L3 cache which reduces the number of fetches from main memory. Basically fast. TDP is rated at 45W which is less compared to the desktop counterparts rated anywhere between 120 - 190W. So, it is relatively cooler and in two months, it never became too hot to place it in my lap. Also, the clever ventitaltion by HP really keeps the laptop cool in most scenarios except high end gaming and n3D design and rendering.nnRAM : Its a DDR4 ram clocked at 2133 Mhz, thats really fast and complements the fast processor and there is 16GB of it. All you will ever need , atleast for next few more years, unless you are planning to use this machine as a server and this is not built for that purpose.nnGraphics Card: Nvidia GTX 960M. yes, you are right. not a GT, its is GTX. Though not a high end like 980 or the newer 10 series, it is a surprisingly good mid-level graphics card with the latest GDDR5 memory(4GB) it can handle most of the games at high setting without any problem. when i ran a diagnostic with unigine valley benchmark tool, it easily maintained 50 - 60 fps at 1920x1080(full HD) with 2x anti-aliasing. with medium or 720p settings, i was able to touch 110 fps. I suppose, that should be fine for most casual gamers and enthusiast. Video transcoding was faster too, didnt have much time to do an extensive test, but whatver test i threw at it so far, it handled them with ease.nnScreen: The one i have is of 4K resolution, i would say it is an overkill. But the product listed here is a 1920x1080 (Full HD) resolution which is pretty sharp and bright(uses less battery than the 4K one). There is an issue though some older application do not scale well and the text and UI looks really tiny. It is not the problem of system, it is a problem with the windows OS. Microsoft still haven't fixed the scaling problem ( even in windows 10, mac is lot better in this regard). So, we have a really good screen.nnKeyboard & touchpad: The keys are well spread out with a separate numeric pad(very useful for me). The reach is bit lesser compared to dell latitude or lenovo thinkpad(best laptop keyboard yet) this might take some getting used to, but you will get used to it sooner than you think.( I use thinkpad for work.)nnStorage: We have 128 GB SSD + 1TB harddisk drive at 7200 RPM. SSD is the primary harddisk which adds to the speed of the system. Thought it is not the latest NVMe, its read write speeds are more than satisfactory. With such an huge storage(most of us will fill it up with movies and songs anyway) we wont be needing to upgrade them for a while.nnPorts: We have three USB ports(two of them are USB 3.0, and no USB-C yet), HDMI, card reader, headphone jack, RJ45 for network and power port. so, no complaints therennOther than these we have B&O tuned speakers, not for eaphones. but the audio quality is very pretty standard. Webcam is also a standard affair(though the laptop i have has a Intel realsense 3D webcam which can also be used to scan and create 3D model). nBuild quality is very good, i does not look big at all, thanks to the clever contoured design by HP. The silver back is kind of bright and looks bland, to my taste. But it will remind most of the people of the macs. The chrome plated hinges are sturdy and built to last.nnNow, when i switched on, 2.6ghz processor(base speed)+2133 ghz ram + 350 MB/s SSD = 5 second boot. yes, literally i get the windows 10 login screen in 5 seconds. and multi tasking is a breeze and wifi connectivity is satisfactory.nnBattery lasts for 5 hours on normal use at medium brightness for the 4K screen version. But for the full HD screen laptop listed here i expect a longer life, which is good compared to the power it is packingnnI rate this product 5/5 for its sheer versatility. Thought there are few things that could have bee better. For the asking price, The screen could have been a touchscreen, wifi card could have been a better one supporting 2x2 . But these are very specific requirements since considering the fact that there are not many applications optimised for touch input, and very high wifi speeds are demanded only by hardcore games and R&D people and most of the wifi networks are still not upgraded .nnOverall, an impressive product worth buying. though i am biased towards DELL products, still i went ahead and pruchsed this one, that must say a lot about this product.nnCiao!

Most Unassuming Beast of a Laptop!!!!!

Short review :- Awesome... Go for it....nnLong review(warning :- Really long)n--------------------nThere are gaming laptops and there are productivity laptops. And when you are in the market and spend weeks of research, there are chances that you have very specific needs. Often times most of us end up sacrificing one or other criteria before zeroing in on a particular model. At least I did that 3-4 times in the past. Because, for whatever reasons, the model we like for performance, may be so poorly built, or the one that catches the eye would be costing you a kidney. Not anymore. Most of the brands have come up with well balanced solutions, and I would say bc008tx is top of that creamy layer, at least for now.nnI was searching for my next daily driver, requirements being - well suited for productivity(I work on multiple virtual machines, multiple instances of android running along with visual studio), less frequent media editing and a bit of gaming. I did research for a week before holiday sales started and had a shot list of few models(HQ processors, 8GB RAM and decent discrete graphics). I also budgeted for an SSD and RAM(to16GB) upgrade. nThe sale started and for couple of days there were not much noticeable offers, until the electronic sale started.... And.... voila!!!!... there is our boy HP Pavilion 15-bc008tx. nAs always I swept the internet for reviews and more information as the provided specs were too god to believe. But being a new entrant into the market, It had very few trails in web. Finally I decide to go for it, as there was also a very sweet exchange offer for my old laptop. Three times the order got erred out midway as the laptop went out-of-stock. Finally I could place the order, and the long wait (2 week waiting time) started. nBut Flipkart delivered the item in 9 days.nI's skeptical during unboxing as this is the first item I'm ordering online without seeing any reviews. Surprise!!! A backpack.... the HP trendsetter series(W2N96PA - with online price in the range of 1500). Nice first impression....nThen the laptop box itself.. neatly padded and well protected with styrofoam molds.nnNow to the actual review :nThe Laptop body is silver/aluminium matte finish with a shiny HP logo. nAt 2.18Kg, it weighs OK for a "gaming" grade laptop, but what catches the eyes is the thin look from the edges. HP has managed to contour the design cleverly to make it look thin(even though it isn't). nAll expansion bays/ ports are well placed, the peripheral connections won't hinder the mouse movements ...nice. nThe lid, though, cant be opened by one hand, without dragging the body along. The new type of hinges are shiny and sturdy enough and adds a nice look. nThe keyboard is well spread-out,. You can barely feel the keys registering the clicks, gamers are not gonna like this, but perfect for my typing/coding scenarios. Its back lit also.nScreen looks really good, with IPS fullHD and an anti-glare finish, the viewing angles are good and the color accuracy is excellent. The bright screen is enough to throw ambient light on the keyboard. Hence I rarely use the key backlight.nPerformance is great. The SSD boot really shows its muscle and you ll reach the desktop in a jiffy while powering on. nI setup my dev env pretty fast and its working really fluid.nI'm yet to benchmark gaming performance and that would be another separate review post.nnPros:n1. Specification to die for in this Price range. (I got it for 75K during the BBD season)n2. Fairly light weight compared to other GTX960M laptopsn3. Most of us would not have to upgrade storage/memory for quite some timen4. Clean, simple and streamlined looksn5. Really really powerfuln6. Screen is crisp and really brightn7. Superb ventilation keeps the laptop cooler compared to most other gaming laptopsnnCons:n1. Speakers are load and B&O sound controls work OK, but still you would need a good quality headphones to enjoy the crisp audio to its fullest qualityn2. Weight distribution is a bit off, you would need to use both hands while opening the lidn3. Some may not like the silver finish of the exterior, as it looks like a mac from a distance(I'm one of them :-p)n4. Anti-glare finish of the screen is not that much effective in really bright light sourcesn5. webcam is average(but decent in well-lit conditions), but this is rarely a deal breaker IMO.nnConclusion:nThis is a powerful beast that hides in an ordinary outfit. Dont get fooled by its innocent looks. nThis HP pavilion 15-bc008tx is a great performer.nnCheers,nArun

A powerful device worth the money spent

I was a little apprehensive when I bought this laptop during the BBD sale because there weren't any reviews to be found about this particular model. But I decided to go ahead with my decision anyway since the specs fulfilled my needs. The laptop delivered in almost every regard and the many pros outweigh the tiny cons.nnFlipkart's packing was good and the laptop arrived a lot sooner than expected. The design is nothing extraordinary but there is a sense of class to it. The weight is just a little over 2 kg and I think this is a high point for a laptop that crosses over into the periphery of gaming laptops. The silver back is prone to smudges but nothing that a wipe can't take care of. On booting up I was genuinely thrilled to see the login screen in less than 5 seconds - thanks to the 128GB SSD. nnComing to performance, this laptop is undoubtedly a beast. The i7-6700HQ coupled with 16 gigs of DDR4 RAM does a fine job of handling multi-tasking. Intensive apps run smoothly and if installed on the SSD, they launch very quickly. I haven't run any graphic intensive games, but I'm pretty confident that the GTX 960M will handle most modern games well at medium to high settings. The screen is vibrant and colors are vivid. It is a joy to watch videos on the Full HD screen. The sound output is decent but for crisp audio, I would go for headphones. Considering all this, if you are looking for a performer in the laptop segment, then this is a serious contender. nnThe battery life is decent too. Although I seriously doubt the claim of getting up to 9 hours of battery, I was able to squeeze out close to 5 hours during my time with the device (I kept the power settings on balanced; you may get even more battery life with power saving on). nnOverall this laptop is clearly a winner at this price range. I compared prices with similar spec laptops of other manufacturers and they come at a higher price (some even pushing the 1 lakh bar). So this is a good choice for those who want to a laptop under 1 lakh but is future-proof for the next 4 or 5 years. It offers a perfect mix of everyday use and gaming. It certainly does not look like a gaming laptop. The design is not radically different from any other laptop in the Pavilion series. So it looks like a device that might be good for everyday use and with the weight being on the lower side, portability is also not an issue for the most part. But underneath this is a beast of a performer. It never lagged for me bar a few hiccups courtesy of the Windows 10 OS. I got this for an extra discount with the exchange offer, which makes it all the more worth the money spent. nnFor a PC user like me who wanted the right mix of everyday use and gaming, the HP Pavilion bc-008tx was the perfect fit. So if you're like me, then go ahead and get this one!
