HP 15-bs145tu 15.6-inch FHD Laptop (8th Gen Intel Core i5-8250U/8GB/1TB/Free DOS/Integrated Graphics), Sparkling BlackI was looking to buy a Windows laptop since few months and decided to buy one with the 8th Gen i5. Was looking for some options from US, where the price was way cheaper than India. Later decided to get it from India after I found this option for 38990. I got the laptop on Brand new sealed packaged by HP, imported a month before my purchase. Package had laptop along with power adapter and manual guides. HP pre-installed the DOS. Had to delete all the DOS partitions and HP document partition before Windows 10 installation, as it was of MBR type partition unlike the GPT type needed for Windows 10. After Windows 10 installation you can install "HP support assistant" which will download all the necessary drivers needed and install them upon your acceptance. After installing all the compatible device drivers the performance has improved.Review*******- LOOKS - Its all black, especially the sparkling black looks awesome and upmarket. The inner side is matte finish with waves type design- KEYBOARD - Smooth chiclet keys without Backlit. Quality of the keys don't seems to be upscale. But considering the price range it seems to be good.- TRACKPAD - Awesome synaptics trackpad with multi-touch gestures. Could have been a little big though- KEYS - Total 12 function keys including Brightness, multimedia, airplane mode.- BATTERY - Battery life seems to be good considering the 8th Gen processor is slightly under-clocked. But I am yet to test the capability. Even the battery charging is fast as promised by HP.- Processor - Intel i5-8250U is the first in the line up for laptop processors in case of 8th Gen i5. It is having a base clock of 1.6GHz and a turboboost capable of 3.4GHZ. It has 4 cores and 8 threads compared to i5 7th gen which has only 2 cores and 4 threads. Although it is underclocked compared to 7th gen, it adds up the battery life and compensates that with 2 additional cores than 7th Gen.- RAM - It is equipped with Hynix DDR4 2400 RAM which is the best you can get nowadays in .- HDD - 1TB 5400 rpm HDD from Toshiba, good for regular use, and is giving decent boot times.- OPTICAL DRIVE - It comes with a DVD RW drive. But nowadays hardly anyone uses it.- SCREEN - Laptop has a full HD (1920 x 1080) anti glare display. It is normal TN panel and not IPS, which is common in this price range. So you have to compromise on the viewing angles, but the display is sharp and good for daily use.- GRAPHICS - Sorry, as it does not have discrete graphics card it may not be suitable for gaming, but the Intel UHD 620 can handle 4K displays, and few games as well. I was very particular that if I buy a i3, then I will buy one with discrete graphics card. With i5 I can compromise this point, as the processor is able to manage the daily needs without a graphics card but should have at least 8GB RAM.- PROTECTION - It doesn't get hot or overheat, you can keep it without required cooling stand. Fan is pretty noisy when you are pushing the limits of the laptop.- ADAPTER - It has a standard 65W AC adapter with small pin which is coming in HP laptop nowadays- COMPONENTS - It has two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, one HDMI 1.4 port, one RJ45, on headphone / mic 3.5mm jack, SD card reader- WEIGHT - It is so lightweight, and only 2kg. The laptop is handy for a 15.6 inch type.- SPEAKERS It is crispy, clear and not so loud.- CAMERA It has a 720p FaceTime HD camera, I do not use such feature so I cannot say much about the in-depth details.- BLUETOOTH It connects my Dell Travel mouse without installing any driver. I also tried Bluetooth headphone, and it connects as well.- SUPPORT It comes with one-year warranty- BUY ONLINE I had lot of doubt in buying it online due to the duplicate/counterfeit parts, but this is not true. The product was genuine and came with proper warranty. I have already checked it at HP website and registered it.Cons*****- NO USB Type C port- Viewing angles of displayHave any questions regarding the laptop, contact me.

Hi all, This was my first laptop via any online store, i was afraid of a lot of things... This laptop was not disappointing anywaysPROCESSOR:It has an 8th gen core i5 processor with 8 virtual cores, the best u can get at this price OPERATING SYSTEM:It comes with preinstalled DOS,For windows, hp provides a lot of updates in their site... I use Ubuntu 16 os with this, i had to search for 3rd party wireless driver for wifi, but performance was really good... KEYBOARD: Nothing special, NOT BACKLITTOUCHPAD: nothing special, usual touchpadBATTERY: lasts more than 5 hours , charges really quick (1.5 hrs from 20% to 98%)USB: 1 usb 2.0, 2 USb 3.0WARRANTY: genuine product, registered in hp website, no tampering detectedDESIGN: texture is smooth, smudges can be seen, but very shiny and glitterySELLER: delivered 2 days earlier, amazingly protective packaging,Overall a gud buy...I will edit this review as i see any problems with the laptop...Update 10 april 2018: Unfortunately, this laptop seems to have some hardware power leakage. Meaning, if u leave the laptop shut down for a week, battery will drain (around 70%).I am not sure whether its a prblem with my unit or with all, but i juat remove battery when keeping laptop idle for more than 2,3 days.
Laptop is a better choice at this price range. Good performance . I am sad to find that there is no backlit keyboard as described in the ifo by seller. Overall very good
This product is very good in all the aspects but if you are a gamer, software engineer who develops software or an audio video producer, then you MUST AVOID buying this laptop and the reason is, it's processor (more details mentioned in the review). The laptop has a good display which is full HD that is a great choice for watching movies. It's speakers are crisp and clear and you won't be disappointed by the audio output while playing music and videos.Build quality is premium and black color makes it look beautiful.Keyboard is smooth and has num pad so if you want to use hindi fonts, it will really help you a lot (in terms of key combination words)Battery life is average and you will get around 3 to 4 hours on normal usage.5400 rpm Hard Disk gives good performance while data transfer. System boot time is fast and it turns on immediately within 10 secods (Windows 10 Pro)It has 720p HD camera but in actual results, photos clicked by the camera are not actually clear or like HD, so I'll say that the camera is average.6 MB cache memory and 4 cores make it really fast and good to handle multiple instructions in the memory making it very fast.Rest of the things are ok with this laptop so if you want to use it for listening to music and watching movies, using MS Office etc, then you can buy this laptop. Now the main part, processor. It's processor has the base frequency of 1.6GHz which can boost upto 3.4 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology. But 1.6GHz base frequency is what makes it useless for most of the software developers and gamers and audio/video producers. Reason is, today, most of the software, like Visual Studio 2017, which is the main software for software developers, requires 1.8GHz minimum base frequency to be installed and operate normally. In the same way, other new software like Photoshop CC requires 2GHz minimum base processor speed, MAYA and AutoCad etc require 2GHz base frequency, FL Studio and Pro Tools for audio production require 2GHz base processor speed. So if we consider this laptop's base frequency, it is useless for most of the software and games because it doesn't meet the minimum requirements. If HP could make it's processor's base frequency at least 2.0GHz, like other laptops, it would have been a great choice and an unbeatable laptop. So I recommend that if you are amazed by looking at the specs, think again about the processor, it can boost upto 3.4GHz only while using the applications that require high resources to stay stable but the locked speed of 1.6GHz won't let you install those applications. So in my opinion, it is good for home use, but not recommended for professional use.
