Good Laptop

The specs are good ... This machine is a real powerhouse , The 1080p screen rocks but due to the gloss finish of the screen it catches fingerprints easily... Thanks to i7 4th generation the boot time is 3 seconds ... Runs all IDE's and the heaviest compiling without a hiccup Graphic card is some what mid-end it's the GT series with a DDR3 Bus rather than the new GDDR5... Graphics performance is decent but not top notch ... If you're into gaming go for an Alienware or an Asus Build Quality is good except that the keyboard has a little flex near the arrow keys and the back has a flex near the HP logo... Cooling is very good though the fan is real noisy but it will do a great job at keeping the heat away from the main area thanks to HP coolsense.. The SSHD gives it a nice performance boost. Overall a great machine and I am really satisfied with my decision.. AGAIN if into pure gaming go for a GT-750 M or a GTX series graphic card.. If mild gaming is your pick , this laptop is great (minecraft runs at 1080P with full resolution and full graphics at ~150fps)

Jack of All Master of All too? May be not!

Flipkart (wsretail) had a good offer. Got the laptop at a very good price of 79k. The laptop bag freebie is not mentioned here but is delivered along with the laptop. writing this review after 3 weeks of use. Pros: 1. great looker. the aluminum silver finish is classy. 2. speakers are of excellent quality and very loud. you'll never need to use more than 50% of the volume. 3. Finger print reader is a charm to use. very helpful for quick login with just one swipe of the finger. 4. computing powerhouse i7 quad core( most dells in same price band come with i7 dual core). 5. 8gb ssd is a good thing to have along with the 1tb hdd. 6. backlit keyboard, touch screen, usb ports are space well to allow 4 simultaneous connections. 7. laptop temp is maintained well and not very noisy either. 8. comes with hp drive guard which detects thru accelerometer if the laptop is falling and stalls the hard drive. cons/issues: 1. the ctrl and windows keys on my keyboard had partially come out, needed a hard press to slot them correctly inside. guess this is a one off problem. 2. the arrow keys are unlike the traditional layout. the up and down keys are reduced half in size and made to fit into a single keyblock. quite cumbersome to use when u want to directly reach the up or down key. gamers will find it tough too. 3. the default behavior of the function keys f1 to f12 is reversed. eg: pressing f5 will not refresh the page, you'll need to do fn+f5. this can be disabled in the bios though, so not a problem. 4. the screen doesn't bend backwards fully. i.e. when closed it is 0 degrees. when fully open it's about 110degrees( not close to 180 deg). this is a con if ur usage requires you to be able to do this. 5. the touchpad buttons are not separate buttons, instead are part of the touchpad so if u try using the laptop without a mouse with a finger on the touchpad buttons it'll be a issue because the touching of the button is taken as an input for the click.

flipkart is good but laptop is bit pricey at this range...

All is good about this laptop...but the gpu is 2gb ddr3 740m and the display is glossy and viewing angles are poor... compared to lenovo y510p the screen viewing are pretty bad. the back-light keys have single setting off or on. heat is quite o.k but for lap using.. it burns your thighs after some time... overall quite good laptop at this price. plus no other options in this range..

I bought the Notebook 15 J109 - TX In Jan 2014 Facing Over heating issue, It's become Iron box on the left top corner. HP failed to resolved my issue from last 2 month. They provided me Unit replacement and that was also failure with overheating as well displace brightness. On the top replacement of replacement also failed...Looks like HP delivered the 15 J109 - TX without quality check and so looks Series is failure. Hope HP will understand and value the customers money and effort. Will provide the best resolution

VERY COSTLY AND POOR PERFORMANCE !

As the title says.........pricing is very high for the specs listed.. here it has been categorised as a gaming laptop.........well apart from processor, ram, hdd and chipset...the graphic card is pretty lame which is the most important part of any gaming laptop (what makes it even worse is its 64-bit memory interface which further bring down the performance)..... PROS: 1) specs looks good on paper (except for gfx card model) 2) very high end looking 3) construction materials and workmanship 4) full-hd touch screen 5) gigabit lan and good wifi reception range 6) backlit keyboard 7) good after sales service 8) excellent speakers 9) stays pretty cool under normal usage CONS: 1) pretty mediocre performance while gaming. 2) no dvd drive. 3) stupid arrow keys. 4) lots of preloaded useless softwares (i formatted the entire hard disk after scratching my head searching what to uninstall and what not to...i wonder why oem's harass their buyers by installing all sorts of malwares..i didn't even bother to make a backup of recovery partion coz i knew i would be full of junk as well). 5) viewing angles are pretty bad. 6) performance drops while on battery mode. 7) last but not the least.....the pathetic windows 8 (8.1 is same thing with minor UI changes) it still sucks nevertheless. a friend of mine bought it from a hp showroom and returned it within 3 days of using it. i would rather make a gaming desktop pc for about 60k and with the rest of money buy a normal laptop for all other purposes.. i mean seriously what's the point of a gaming laptop when you have to keep it plugged in all the time while gaming to get full power out of it..and even then you cannot use it for marathon gaming sessions........ for this much money there are a lot better options available in the market...
