User Reviews for HP 455 (E1Q80PA) (AMD Dual Core E1/2 GB/500 GB/DOS) Laptop

I bought HP 455 laptop from flipkart.com. It is preinstalled with DOS system. No drivers CD found along with the laptop. I have Installed window 7. Some drivers are missing after installation of window 7. Tried to install drivers but some of drivers are still missing. I want CD for all the drivers for this laptop madel which is supported to all operating system. Please help me to resolved such issues.

First of all, I did not buy this laptop from Flipkart. My reason to buy this laptop was mainly the screen size and weight. I did not want a screen size of 15.6 inch as it was too high. Neither did I want a screen size as low as 10.6/11.6. I wanted it somewhere in between. But the laptops with screen size 13.3/14-inch were too costly (only bigger brands make those). Some of the examples are like, Apple Macbook Pro/Air, Dell Latitude, Sony Vaio. When I saw this laptop, I went straight to the store to check it out. it had the perfect screen size of 14 inches and a weight which was not as high as 2.3/2.5 kg (15.6 inch laptops) nor was it as low as 1.3/1.5 kg (10.6/11.6 inch laptops). it was exactly in the middle, which is 2kg. Perfect! This laptop came with DOS, and because I did not have any Windows DVD lying around me, I took my Ubuntu Live USB (A pendrive mounted with Ubuntu OS) and installed it on the laptop for the time being. it works perfectly without any problems and I would recommend everyone to do the same if they do not have a Windows DVD with them, or just want to check if everything is working and do not want to spend hours for installing the OS. Ubuntu installs in just 30 minutes whereas Windows 7 Pro installs in 1 hour least. XP is quite better but it takes 45 minutes. Added you can force Ubuntu to skip downloading data while installing, after which it'll take only 15 minutes to install. Cool!

Please note, this notebook comes with DOS pre-installed. No driver CD is shipped with this PC. Therefore, I tried to install windows-xp sp2. But, it would stop giving an error message "0x0000007B". This is a critical error due to lack of Sata disk controller drivers missing in the XP SP2 installation CD. Now, I am totally struck in between. Have to download this driver separately using some complicated procedures (available on the internet). Now, decided to go with Windows 7 - 64-bit as this a 64 bit machine. Will update other details such as hardware device driver availability later.

First of all flipkart delivery is astonishing and second thing about the product...very good for price ,features are upto the mark and very good for the people who are looking for basic need.

Really worth the price. Though bluetooth was shown on flipkart, the one I received did not have it. I am giving 3 star only because of this mis-informaiton.
