Ghost Recon Wildlands

Platform- PS4, PC, XBox One

The tenth iteration in the tactical shooter genre, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands will be an open-world third person shooter much like the online-only Division launched last year. However, unlike the Division, Ghost Recon Wildlands will feature a huge campaign mode set in Bolivia, where the players have to take on the role of Ghosts to bring down a drug cartel. Players can opt to go guns blazing or take a stealthier approach to complete the missions. The game is expected to launch on March 7th 2017.

God of War

Platform- PS4

A PlayStation exclusive and one of the best hack-and-slash titles out there, God of War is set to make a return this year after Sony announced it at its E3 press conference in June last year. The game brings some pretty big changes to the story and swaps out Greek mythology for Norse. It still plays in third-person, however it looks like the gameplay will be more slow-paced compared to its predecessors. And did we mention that Kratos has a beard in this iteration of God of War? Oh, and a son too.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Platform- PS4

As we mentioned earlier, Uncharted 4 was one of the best games of 2016 and while the fourth iteration put Drake’s story to bed, there’s still a lot to look forward from the Lost Legacy. Lying somewhere between a DLC and a full-title, players take the role of Chloe Frazer who made her debut back in Uncharted 2 and Nadine Ross from Uncharted 4 in the Lost Legacy. While the game won’t be the same without Nathan’s sarcastic quips, we expect it to still offer a great cinematic gameplay in trademark Naughty Dogs style.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

Platform- PS4, XBox One, PC

After Resident Evil 6 failed to impress fans and critics alike, Capcom decided to reinvent its survival/horror franchise by cutting down the combat, and instead emphasising on scares and surprises. The game involves new gameplay mechanics and is now played in first-person mode instead of third-person. And, if that doesn’t send chills down your spine, then the fact that Capcom has made the game compatible with PlayStation VR will definitely amp up the terror. The game is expected to be available from January 24th.

Tekken 7

Platform- PS4, XBox one, PC

Slated as the last Tekken game of the franchise, Tekken 7 is a 3D fighting game which is set to bring a host of new characters including Kazumi Mishima, who is apparently the wife of Heichachi Mishima, and Kazuya’s mother. Fans of the genre can expect Tekken 7 to be packed with jaw-dropping fighting moves and acrobatic finishers along with great visuals too. The game will reportedly launch in the first half of 2017 and will come with support for PlayStation VR too.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Platform- Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo Switch

Nintendo’s upcoming Zelda game is one of the veryfew confirmed titles for the Nintendo Switch and is also one of the most anticipated games of 2017. The game was announced back in 2013, and has been delayed several times owing to its massive open-world nature. Still, whether it is your last Nintendo Wii U title, or your first Nintendo Switch game, Breath of the Wild is bound to impress you and keep you hooked for hours on end.

Mass Effect: Andromeda

Platform: PS4, XBox One, PC

Bioware’s Sci-Fi Epic is back with a brand new story set in a brand new galaxy (Andromeda). Set 600 years after the original trilogy, Mass Effect: Andromeda brings new weapons, aliens, ships and planets for players to explore and colonise. The open-world game features the same blend of RPG and third-person shooter mechanics as was seen on the previous iterations of Mass Effect and is expected to launch on 23rd March.

Halo Wars 2

Platform- XBox One, PC

Launching eight years after the original title, Halo Wars 2 is a real-time strategy game in which players get to lead armies in a brutal war against a brand new enemy. The game comprises of different classes of soldiers for players to command and comes with an action-packed story following the events of Halo 5. The multiplayer mode lets players compete with others within the XBox Live community as well. The game will hit the stores on February 21st.

For Honor

Platform- PS4, XBox One, PC

Developed by Ubisoft, players take the role of a Viking, a Samurai or a Knight in the medieval warfare game called (not surprisingly) “For Honor”. Each of the three faction offers unique abilities, play style, and four different characters to choose from. The gameplay mechanics of For Honor might take some time to get used to as it requires precise input from players end to block and attack but the game looks extremely promising and visually stunning. For Honor is expected to launch on 14th February, ensuring that gamers without a date have something to do on Valentine’s day.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Platform- PS4, XBox One

The feverishly awaited successor to the best wild-west themed Red Dead Redemption is finally here, and will be arguably one of the biggest launches of 2017. An open-world sandbox filled with outlaws and opportunities alike, Red Dead Redemption 2 will be a prequel to the original game and will be Rockstar’s first major release since GTA V. The game will reportedly launch in fall of 2017 and will come with multiplayer content as well.

That sums up some of the most anticipated games of 2017 which we are eagerly waiting to play. Do let us know in the comments below which game are you most excited for in 2017?
