Tata Motors has been extensively testing the updated 2022 Tata Nexon EV, with the vehicle being spotted on public roads during its development numerous times. Notably, Tata Motors debuted the 2022 Tata Curvv concept car on Wednesday and may announce another new vehicle on April 28th.

2022 Tata Nexon EV expected range and price

The 2022 Tata Nexon EV is expected to be Rs 3-4 lakhs more expensive than the current model in the market. The car’s range is expected to increase to an estimated 400km on the official test cycle, compared to the existing Nexon’s claimed 312km range. Hence, a real-world range of 300-320km can be expected from the upcoming model. The existing Nexon EV delivers an approximate real-world range of 200-220km on a single charge.

The increased range in the upcoming 2022 Nexon EV is courtesy the larger 40kWh battery pack, which will be fitted in the new car with a few changes in the floor plan and likely compromised boot space. The Nexon EV currently in the market has a 30.2kWh battery pack. The long-range Nexon EV is expected to be sold alongside the existing Nexon EV, giving buyers a choice in terms of range and price.

The newer 2022 Tata Nexon EV long range is also expected to bring along selectable regenerative braking modes, ventilated seats, cruise control, park mode, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), among other features.

Post the recent price hike on the Tata Nexon EV, the range for the highest-selling electric vehicle starts at Rs 14.54 lakh (ex-showroom) for the XM trim and goes all the way up to Rs 17.15 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Dark XZ+ Lux trim. The upcoming 2022 Tata Nexon EV long-range can hence be expected to start at approximately Rs 18 lakh for the base variant. Pricing in this range would put it up against the Hyundai Kona EV and the new 2022 MG ZS EV. Hyundai is also expected to launch a facelifted Kona Electric in India sometime this year.
