5 Lord of the Rings games launching in 2023-24

The Lord of the Rings fans have a lot to look forward to in the next two years. In its latest earnings briefing, Embracer Group, which owns the rights to LOTR games, has confirmed that new Lord of the Rings games are on the way. The development on these has already begun quite a long time ago and we should be seeing more information about them in the coming months. Although Embracer hasn’t exactly announced which games will be releasing, four of the five are already known to be in development.

Embracer said, “This acquisition has generated a lot of interest among both internal and external partners for the Lord of the Rings IP, across different media formats. There are currently five games in production by external partners, to be released in financial year 2023/24.” The company has confirmed that five Lord of the Rings games will release by 2024, which are being developed by third-party studios. Four of these games are already known and they are The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth, and a new title from Take-Two. Out of these, Heroes of Middle-Earth will be mobile game from EA. The fifth Lord of the Rings game remains mysterious.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will most likely be the first game to launch. The game was announced quite a few years ago, and has been delayed multiple times. LOTR: Gollum is now set to launch in April 2023 at the earliest. Besides these, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim animated movie is in the works and it is scheduled to release in 2024. Mirando Otto and Brian Cox are leading the voice cast for this movie.
