8pm-Midnight: Prime Time For Mobile Web Browsing

Around the world, 8 pm to midnight are the day’s prime mobile browsing hours, according to Opera’s ‘State of the Mobile Web’ report. Regardless of differences in economy, culture or location, those four evening hours account for a disproportionate amount of mobile data consumption. Opera Software’s mobile browser Opera Mini browser registered surged usage in the Indian market in the month of May 2010 with page views recording a 322.1% growth, while unique user growth was 324.2%. Compared to users in the other top 10 countries —  Indonesia, Russia, India, China, Nigeria, Ukraine, South Africa, the United States, Vietnam and the United Kingdom — users in India are more likely to be browsing with Opera Mini between noon and 4 pm. The top 10 sites in India in terms of unique users who accessed internet using Opera Mini were google.com, orkut.com, facebook.com, youtube.com, yahoo.com, wikipedia.org, songs.pk, zedge.net, my.opera.com and getjar.com. While, in May 2010, Opera Mini had over 61.4 million users, a 4.2% increase from April 2010 globally.
