Acer launches Nitro 7 and Predator Helios 700 gaming notebooks, updates Nitro 5 and Helios 300 series

Acer has launched a bunch of laptops at its ‘next@acer’ global press conference held in New York today. The company launched the all-new Nitro 7 and Predator Helios 700 gaming notebooks at the event. Apart from these, Acer also launched the refreshed variants of the Nitro 5 and Helios 300 notebooks at the event. Also, the brand has launched Aspire series, Spin 3, TravelMate, two new Chromebooks, and more at the event.

The Acer Nitro 7 has already gone up for sale in the US in March, with prices starting from $999.99, which is roughly equal to Rs 68,890. The Nitro 5 will be made available in the US starting April 2019, with the base price set at $799.99, around Rs 55,100. On the other hand, the Acer Predator Helios 700 and Helios 300 will go on sale this month, starting from $2,699.99 (~Rs 1,85,990) and $1,199.99 (~Rs 82,660). The pricing and availability of these notebooks will vary from region to region. However, there is no word on the Indian pricing and availability as of now.

The Acer Nitro 7 and 5 are designed for casual gamers who don’t want to lug around heavy, tank-like gaming laptops. The Acer Nitro 7 flaunts a sleek metal chassis measuring just 19.9 mm. The notebook ships with a 15.6-inch display featuring 144Hz refresh rate and 3ms response time, which is crucial for online gaming. The laptop also offers an impressive 78 percent screen-to-body ratio. Ticking at the core is 9th Gen Intel Core processor and the latest NVIDIA GPU, backed by up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM with up to 2TB of HDD storage. There are also two dedicated slots for PCIe SSDs, which can be used to upgrade the storage. The Nitro 5 retains all these specs but gets an additional 17.3-inch model.

Both the Nitro 7 and Nitro 5 come equipped with dual fans, Acer CoolBoost technology, and dual exhaust port to stay cool during gaming sessions. Acer has also included NitroSense with a hotkey (to monitor performance) and NitroSound for enhanced audio. Both laptops feature HDMI 2.0, USB Type-C 3.2, and more in terms of connectivity.

The Predator series is the bonafide gaming line-up from the Taiwanese company. The brand added the all-new Helios 700 to the line-up and also refreshed the Helios 300. The Predator Helios 700 comes with a unique HyperDrift keyboard that slides forward, allowing increased airflow directly through the top of the notebook. When the keyboard is slid, two additional air intakes are exposed to improve airflow for maximum cooling and unleashed overclocking. The Helios 700 comes equipped with two 4th-generation AeroBlade 3D Fans, five copper heat pipes, a vapour chamber and Acer CoolBoost technology.

The keyboard is now closer to the user providing a comfortable distance from the 17-inch 144Hz FHD IP display. Speaking of the keyboard, it comes with per-key RGB lighting, anti-ghosting and MagForce WASD keys. The performance is handled by 9th Gen Intel Core i9 processor with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 or 2070 GPU and up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM. 

The Helio 300 features a 15.6-inch or 17.3-inch Full HD IPS display with same refresh rate as Helio 700. At its core is 9th Gen Intel Core i7 processor with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 GPU. The chipset is further backed by up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM. The company has upgraded the look of the laptop as well, as it now comes with a metal chassis flaunting teal blue accents.
