After Jio, Airtel also launches coronavirus symptom checker tool

“The Airtel coronavirus tool has questions regarding one’s age, gender, symptoms if any, and travel history”

Soon after Reliance Jio launched a coronavirus risk checker tool on the MyJio app, Airtel has also introduced a similar feature in the Airtel Thanks app. The Airtel coronavirus symptom checker tool has been developed in association with Apollo Hospitals. It is available within the Airtel Thanks app and is built on the guidelines of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). The Airtel coronavirus tool has questions regarding one’s age, gender, symptoms if any, and travel history. It determines if the person is a coronavirus-risk or not based on the answers given while also suggesting measures and guidelines on testing.

Do note that similar to the Jio coronavirus tool, the risk factor is determined based on the current understanding of the disease and doesn’t necessarily confirm anything. It is still advised that one should see a doctor even with mild cold or flu symptoms.

The Jio COVID-19 tool that is available on the MyJio app can also be accessed through a dedicated website as well. The website not only offers a symptom checker tool, but also provides information on test centres in different states across India, stats on the number of infected cases around the world and in India, FAQ and helpline numbers as well.

Separately, Airtel is also reportedly in talks with other telecom networks including Jio and Vodafone Idea to create intra-circle roaming, according to a report by ET Telecom. With the 21-day lockdown in effect across the country, there is a surge in the telecom networks and broadband usage. The connectivity is likely to be smooth if all the networks activate intra-circle roaming. Airtel has apparently sent a letter to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and other networks saying that in case a teleco is not able to serve a user, the intra-circle roaming could come as a saviour.
