Airtel revises Rs 289 prepaid plan to offer 4GB of data and voice calling benefits for 84 days

“Airtel’s Rs 289 prepaid pack was earlier offering 1GB of data and voice calling benefits only for 44 days”

Last month, Airtel introduced its Rs 289 prepaid plan with both voice calling and data benefits. The plan offered 1GB of data, unlimited voice calling, and SMS benefits for a validity of 48 days. Now, the company has revised the Rs 289 pack to offer a different set of benefits and increased validity.

According to a Telecom Talk report, the Rs 289 Airtel recharge now offers a total of 4GB of 4G/3G data with a validity of 84 days. This means subscribers now get twice the validity and four times the data at the same price. The tariff also provides unlimited local and STD voice calling to all networks (capped at 300 minutes a day and 1,000 minutes a week), free national roaming, and 100 SMSes per day. Notably, the brand’s new pack is reportedly only available in the Kolkata telecom circle but may be made available in more circles in the coming weeks.

Airtel’s Rs 289 prepaid plan will be competing against Reliance Jio’s Rs 399 pack. Jio’s tariff offers unlimited voice calls, 100 SMSes per day, and 1.5GB of data every day for 84 days. Notably, unlike Airtel, Jio’s pack is available across the country.

Notably, Vodafone also offers a similar plan like Airtel, which costs Rs 279 and comes with a validity of 84 days. The Rs 279 Vodafone recharge provides a total of 4GB of data for the same duration, which can be used on both 3G and 4G smartphones. The tariff also unlimited local and STD calls to all networks alongside free roaming. Notably, this pack carries a voice calling cap of 250 minutes per day and 1,000 minutes per week. In addition, Vodafone recently launched its new Rs 99 and Rs 109 packs for prepaid subscribers, which offer unlimited calling for 28 days.
