Airtel, Vodafone Idea new plans launched: comparing hiked prepaid recharge plans

Airtel and Vodafone Idea have both increased prepaid tariff plans prices, which are now applicable for all subscribers across India. The telcos have hiked prepaid recharge packs by up to 41 percent across price segments. Following the revision, Airtel’s new unlimited voice monthly recharges start from Rs 148. This goes all the way up to the Rs 2,398 plan that offers free voice calling, data, and other benefits for a year. Vodafone Idea tariffs have been hiked in a similar fashion, starting with the Rs 149 monthly plan and going up to Rs 2,399 annual recharge plan. Here’s a look at how the new Airtel and Vodafone Idea plans compare with each other in terms of pricing and benefits.

Airtel vs Vodafone Idea new plans with 28 days validity

Airtel and Vodafone Idea both have a bunch of prepaid recharge plans that offer unlimited calling benefits for 28 days in their portfolio. Starting with Airtel, its new Rs 148 plan is bundled with benefits such as unlimited voice calls, 2GB of data for a month, and 300 text messages for 28 days. Airtel Rs 248 plan, meanwhile, provides unlimited calling, 1.5GB of data per day, and 100 SMSes per day for 28 days, while the Airtel Rs 298 plan ships with daily data benefit of 2GB, unlimited calling, and 100 SMS per day.

In comparison, Vodafone Idea Rs 149 prepaid plan offers free voice calls (1,000 FUP minutes for off-net calls), 2GB data for the entire month, and 300 SMSes. The Vodafone Rs 249 plan includes unlimited voice calls with FUP, 1.5GB data and 100 text messages per day; while Vodafone Rs 299 plan has unlimited voice calls with 1,000 minutes FUP for off-net calls, 2GB of data per day, and 100 SMSes per day. All of these prepaid recharge plans are valid for 28 days.

Lastly, Vodafone Rs 399 plan with 28 days validity offers unlimited calls (FUP of 1,000 minutes for off-net calls), 3GB per day, and 100 SMS/day. The off-net calls are voice calls made to networks other than Vodafone Idea (local, STD and on national roaming). Off-net calls after the free usage quota will be charged at 6 paise per minute.

Airtel vs Vodafone Idea packs with 84 days validity

Coming to new prepaid plans with 84 days validity, Airtel has Rs 598 and Rs 698 recharge packs. The former recharge provides unlimited calling, 1.5GB of daily data, and 100 SMS messages per day, while Rs 698 plan includes unlimited calling, 100 SMS messages on a daily basis and 2GB of data per day for 84 days.

Vodafone Idea prepaid packs with 84 days validity similarly start at Rs 599. The Rs 599 plan consists of unlimited voice calls (3,000 FUP minutes for off-net calls), 1.5GB of data per day, and 100 SMS messages each day for the validity. The Vodafone Rs 699 plan includes the same benefits but ups the daily data benefit to 2GB.

Notably, Vodafone also has Rs 379 tariff to its portfolio. However, unlike other recharge plans that offer daily data, the Rs 379 plan offer only 6GB data for 84 days along with 1,000 SMS messages.

Airtel vs Vodafone Idea packs with 365 days validity

For those interested in yearly packs, Airtel is offering benefits that include unlimited calling, a total of 3,600 SMSes and 24GB of data for 365 days at Rs 1,498. The Rs 2,398 Airtel pack brings unlimited calling, 100 SMS messages for each day, and 1.5GB of daily data allowance for 365 days.

Vodafone Idea, meanwhile, has a Rs 1,499 plan with annual benefits such as free calls with 12,000 FUP minutes, 24GB of data, and a net 3,600 SMSes allowance. With the Rs 2,399 plan, you get unlimited voice calling with 12,000 FUP minutes for off-net calls, daily data benefit of 1.5GB and 100 SMSes per day.
