CES 2018: Alcatel 1, 3 and 5 series smartphones with 18:9 displays announced

Alcatel has refreshed its three Android smartphone lineups with all-screen fronts

Alcatel has expanded its range of Android smartphones at this years CES in Las Vegas. The brand has refreshed its three Android smartphone lineups at the event the Alcatel 1, 3 and 5 series. While the vendor hasnt revealed the full specs of the upcoming smartphones, it did reveal quite a few details regarding their design. The Alcatel 1 series phones are the cheapest of the bunch, and the Alcatel 5 series devices are the priciest.

Alcatel has announced that all new upcoming 1, 3 and 5 series smartphones will come with an all-screen front and 18:9 displays. The Alcatel 5 series smartphones will come with features consumers want at a cost thats much lower than comparable flagships, said the brand. They will come with features like face unlock, full view displays and more. These phones will also have impressive camera capabilities and large batteries for a full days use.

The Alcatel 3 series phones will offer trending features at affordable prices. They will come with dual cameras, an 18:9 full view design and high-resolution displays. The Alcatel 1 series phones will be budget offerings with a metal unibody design. They will also come with 18:9 full view displays and face unlock functionality.

“As the global smartphone market continues to evolve, we come into a new year recognizing the need to stabilize and transform our Alcatel smartphone portfolio to better serve our customers and meet the opportunities ahead,” said Christian Gatti, Global President Alcatel Business Division and Executive Vice President TCL Communication. “By modernizing our smartphone designs and being one of the first global manufacturers to offer 18:9 full view displays across the majority of our lineup, we’re able to refocus our efforts at democratizing flagship style features and making these experiences accessible to almost any consumer worldwide.”

The Alcatel 1 series phones will cost less than $100 (~Rs 6,400). The Alcatel 3 series devices will retail for around $200 (~Rs 12,500), while the Alcatel 5 series phones will be available for approx. $300 (~Rs 19,000). More details about these phones will be available at MWC 2018 in late February.
