Alcatel launched an entire portfolio of 18:9 smartphones at the MWC 2018 held at Barcelona, Spain, last month. The brand launched 5, 3 and 1 series smartphones including Alcatel 5, Alcatel 3, Alcatel 3X, Alcatel 3V, Alcatel 1X, and Alcatel 1C. Notably, the Alcatel 1X, which was launched at the event, is the first ever Android Go edition device. Now, the handset maker has gone ahead and announced the 1X smartphone with Android Oreo (Go Edition) in India.

Jumping directly into the spec sheet of the smartphone, the Alcatel 1X sports a 5.3-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio and offers a screen resolution of 960 x 480 pixels. As for the performance, the handset packs a quad-core MediaTek MTK6580 processor clocked at 1.3GHz. The processor comes coupled with 1GB RAM and 16GB built-in storage. The onboard storage of the handset is further expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. As for the software, it runs Android Oreo (Go Edition), which offers performance and storage improvements with data management features. Notably, there are security benefits from Google, built into the operating system.

In the camera department, Alcatel 1X comes with an 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. For connectivity, the device offers support for 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, A-GPS, VoLTE, and VoWi-Fi, to the table. The handset houses a 2,460mAh battery. It was announced that the 1X will get a Face Key and fingerprint sensor for security in select markets. However, the Indian variant doesn’t come with these two features.

Praveen Valecha, Regional Director, Alcatel India, said: “For nearly 20 years Alcatel has been a leader at delivering high quality, premium mobile technology experiences that are accessible to consumers around the world, with this launch we will enable many consumers to upgrade to a 4G Smartphone.”

Alcatel is offering the smartphone in four hues – Gold Satin, Rose Gold Satin, Dark Grey Suede and Dark Blue Suede. While the handset has been announced in India, Alcatel has kept the pricing and availability of the handset under covers. We will get to know the accurate details once the device is released.
