Amazfit Ares smartwatch has been announced as a new entrant to the company’s product portfolio. It comes with a slightly rugged design and supports up to 70 sports modes, including indoor and outdoor activities such as cycling, walking, yoga, elliptical machine, swimming and more. The Amazfit Ares is 5 ATM (50 meters) water-resistance and is equipped with FIRSTBEAT profession-level sports analysis features such as VO2Max, Exercise Effect, Exercise Load and Recovery Time Data. There is built-in GPS + GLONASS and the smartwatch can receive notifications for calls, messages, emails, and weather from popular apps.
The Amazfit Ares smartwatch sports a 1.28-inch always-on touchscreen colour display with 176 X 176 pixels resolution with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 2 layer + AF coating. The smartwatch has an optical heart rate sensor for heart rate zones, Tri-axis accelerometer, and barometer. It connects via Bluetooth 4.2 LTE and is compatible with phones running Android 5.0 and iOS 10 and above. It measures 46.5 × 55.6 × 14mm and weighs a mere 49 grams so it is light on hands.
There is a 200mAh battery that is claimed to last up to 14 days on a single charge, 90 days in watch-only mode, and 23 hours with continuous GPS use. The Amazfit Ares price is set at RMB 499 (around Rs 5,300) and the smartwatch comes in Black and Army Green colours. It will go on sale from June 1st in China and the company is yet to announce its availability in other markets.
