Amazon now offers doorstep delivery of Airtel and Vodafone SIM cards

Amazon, one of the biggest e-commerce portals in India has announced that it will now be selling SIM cards of two of the country’s leading telecom partners – Vodafone and Airtel on its website. Of the two telecom partners, Airtel already has a doorstep service for delivering SIM cards which can be accessed via the company’s website or the MyAirtel app. However, Vodafone is currently not offering such a service to its customers.

As of now, buyers can avail Airtel SIM cards with monthly postpaid plans of Rs 499, Rs 799, Rs 1,199 and Rs 1,599. On Vodafone’s side of things, buyers can choose from a bunch of RED postpaid plans which start from Rs 499 and go all the way up to Rs 2,999. 

Amazon SIM deliveryFurthermore, Amazon claims that the SIM cards will be delivered to the customer’s doorstep within 24 hours without any additional delivery charges. What’s interesting, however, is that while buyers can purchase a Vodafone SIM card for just Rs 15, Airtel SIM cards will require buyers to submit Rs 200 as a security deposit. Lastly, buyers can also purchase international SIM cards on the Lycamobile network from Amazon which are valid in countries like the US, UK, Italy and Portugal. 

Vodafone-logoThe procedure to authenticate a SIM card purchased from Amazon is as follows: 

  • Purchase the desired SIM card from Amazon 
  • A Vodafone/Airtel executive will confirm your order and will visit you within 24 hours with the SIM card to authenticate your documents 
  • Once done, the SIM card will be activated with your desired postpaid plan
