Amazon Echo Dot 5th Gen: price in India, availability

The Amazon Echo Dot 5th Gen has been priced in India at Rs 5,499, but until March 4th, it will be available at an introductory price of Rs 4,999. The speaker can be purchased via a select range of online and offline third-party multi-brand retail stores such as Croma and Reliance Digital, alongside Amazon’s own e-commerce portal.

Amazon Echo Dot 5th Gen key features

In terms of what’s new, the company claims that the Amazon Echo Dot 5th Gen is the “best sounding” version of its Dot range, to date. According to reports, while the 4th Gen Echo Dot offered a 1.6-inch driver for its speaker, the 5th Gen upgrades to a 1.73-inch driver, which improves the overall audio delivery. Without offering technical details, Amazon states in its media release that the speaker will offer “clearer vocals and up to double the bass than previous generations”.

The other key feature aboard the Amazon Echo Dot 5th Gen is what the company is calling ‘Ultrasound Motion Detection’, a feature that will allow the speaker to gauge movement around it and a larger variety of gestures thanks to an integrated accelerometer. This will help the speaker set up automation actions such as turning on bedroom lights if it detects movement inside the bedroom. It will also recognise more taps and gestures to control music, alarms and more.

Finally, the Alexa-powered speaker will continue to offer the digital clock, but with more detailed information displayed on it. There is also an ambient temperature sensor, which can read the temperature of a room, and take scheduled actions as well basis the temperatures.
