Amazon Fire TV Stick users can now search for Netflix content using Alexa commands

“This will enable Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick 4K users to search and play Netflix content by typing or using Alexa Voice search with remote”

Amazon recently added a screen mirroring update on the Fire TV OS. Now, the company has announced that it integrated Netflix catalogue into the search experience on the Amazon Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick 4K. This will enable users to search and play Netflix content by typing or using Alexa voice search with the bundled remote. It will display content search results from Netflix, even if they are not signed in or subscribed to the streaming service. The Fire TV Stick will serve content both from Amazon Prime Video and Netflix, giving users more choice while looking for stuff to watch.

Furthermore, Amazon also announced that Fire TV completed two years in India and mentioned that it has sold over a million Fire TV Stick devices in India since launch. Moreover, Fire TV Stick users in India stream content for more than 2 hours everyday and according to IDC, Fire TV Stick owns market share of 72 percent in India.

Separately, Amazon is also reportedly working on an ad-supported video news app for its digital media player Fire TV stick. According to reports, Amazon will be launching the news service with Alexa integration to take on rival Roku Channel both in terms of viewers and ad costs. The latter includes news from the likes of ABC News and Yahoo. This would soon let users stream news on a big screen.
