After being left out for quite a while now, macOS is finally getting the native Amazon Prime Video app. The app is rolling out to the macOS App Store starting today. The Amazon Prime Video app for macOS will be available as a free download on the App Store. Prime Video for Mac includes the full catalogue of shows and movies, along with the option to download them for offline viewing.
The Amazon Prime Video app for Mac comes with all the features included in the iOS app, such as picture-in-picture mode, AirPlay, and in-app purchases. Prime Video uses can also rent out the movies if available in their region. You can complete the purchase in the app itself without redirecting to Safari. The purchase goes through Amazon’s in-app payment method if they have the card on file. Otherwise, users can also use Apple’s in-app purchase system to complete the purchase.
The app also comes with some setting options, including autoplay and subtitle preferences, along with parental controls. Users can also view other devices logged in with their Amazon Prime account. However, users need to log in to the web to adjust other settings. The app also offers the X-Ray feature, which provides users with information about the casts, movie, and behind-the-scenes scoop.
