“The information was posted online via the public OS upgrade schedule for Rogers in Canada”
It was reported earlier that Google might be releasing the Android 10 software update for the Pixel devices on September 3rd. This information came from a couple of Google service representatives, which meant that it wasn’t a sure thing. However, the date has now been reiterated by Canadian telecom carrier Rogers, which posted the release dates in the public OS upgrade schedule by mistake. The carrier has now removed the Android 10 release dates from the list, but thankfully, we do have a screenshot that confirms the release date for Android 10.
The Pixel phones, from the original Pixel and Pixel XL to the latest Pixel 3a and 3a XL, will be receiving the official Android 10 update on September 3rd. Google recently announced that Android Q will not get a dessert name and will instead be called Android 10. Although that is unfortunate, we are eagerly waiting to update to final and public build of Android 10 on the Pixel phones. As mentioned in the beginning, the Rogers website no longer shows the release date of Android 10 for the Pixel devices, but below is a screenshot confirming the same.
The screenshot shows that Rogers didn’t know about the name change of the new OS to Android 10. It is still using Android Q OS in the list, but it does confirm the release date. The Google service center representatives were right, and Pixel users should be seeing the new update next week. Those who’ve been running the Android Q beta software will already know what to expect from the new update. Others should prepare for features such as Dark mode, Live captions, new gesture navigation, improved notifications, Bubbles, accent colours, and more.

Google usually releases new software updates on a Monday. However, the first Monday of September is Labour day in the United States, hence the change of release date to the 3rd. Last year, the company released Android 9.0 Pie on a Monday. A recent report has also suggested that even OnePlus might be releasing the Android 10 update for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro on the same day.
