Various smartphone brands have begun rolling out Android 15. The update brings a host of new changes, fixes, and improvements across various areas for phones from major manufacturers such as Google, Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, and others. As Android 15 introduces enhanced security features, performance upgrades, and new user interface elements, you might be wondering when, and if, your device will receive the update.

Android 15 release date (brand-wise)
- Samsung finally initiated the rollout of One UI 7, which is based on Android 15, starting with the Galaxy S24 series in April. The update was released shortly after for the Galaxy S23 series and the Galaxy Z Fold 6/ Flip 6.
- Vivo and iQOO officially started the rollout of Android 15-based Funtouch OS 15 to several high-end smartphones on September 27th, 2024. This makes Vivo and its sub-brand, iQOO, the first smartphone brand to release the stable version of Android 15.
The beta rollout schedule of Funtouch OS 15 for Vivo and iQOO devices is as follows.
- Google released the Android 15 update for eligible Pixel smartphones on October 15th, 2024. The update brings Private Safe, app archiving, and new multitasking capabilities, among other things.
- Samsung will release the stable version of One UI 7 for the Galaxy S24 series, S24 FE, Galaxy S23 series, S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5, Galaxy Tab S10 series, and Galaxy Tab S9 series initially on April 7th, 2025.
- Nothing started the stable roll out of Nothing OS 3.0 in December 2024 for Nothing Phone (2) and (2a) while the beta version is already available for the Nothing Phone (2a), Phone (2), and CMF Phone 1.
- Motorola has rolled out the Android 15 update for the Edge 50 Ultra, Edge 50 Pro, Edge 50 Pro, Edge 50 Neo, Edge 50 Fusion, and several Moto G series smartphones.
- OnePlus has announced the rollout of the Android 15-based OxygenOS 15 Open Beta update for its eligible devices. The beta rollout timeline is as follows.
- Realme is set to release the Android 15-based Realme UI 6.0 open beta update in November for Realme GT 6, Realme GT 6T, and Realme 12 Pro series in November 2024. The beta rollout timeline for other devices is as follows:
- OPPO has announced the full stable rollout schedule of ColorOS 15. Several smartphones are confirmed to get the update by the end of 2024 while other eligible devices will be added later.
- Xiaomi has revealed the global release schedule of HyperOS 2. The schedule for India-only Xiaomi devices may differ. This roadmap also includes Redmi and POCO devices.
- Infinix smartphones such as Note 40 4G, Note 40 5G, Note 40S, Note 40 Pro 4G, Note 40 Pro 5G, and Note 40 Pro+ 5G will get the Android 15-based XOS 15 update starting April 2025.

Android 15 key features
The following features will debut on Android 15 but not necessarily on all custom skins based on Android.
- Sensitive notifications – Android will prevent malicious apps from reading sensitive information in the notifications.
- Partial screen recording – This will allow recording of the screen of a particular app or window instead of the whole system.
- Edge-to-edge apps – Apps on Android 15 will be able to take advantage of the edge-to-edge API which will allow displaying more content on the screen.
- Predictive back gesture – Previously limited to just Google-based apps and services, the predictive best gesture will be supported in more areas and apps.
- Brand new volume panel – The volume panel on AOSP Android 15 is getting a redesign that aligns more with Material You design.
- App Pairs – Create pairs of two apps to instantly open them in split screen through one tap.

How do I know when my device has received the Android 15 update?
Many brands will release the Android 15 rollout schedule through which you can know when your device is set to receive the update, if eligible. As soon as the update arrives, you’ll receive an OTA update notification. Simply click on it and install the update. You can also manually check for the update by going to the ‘Update section’ within Settings.
When will brands officially announce the update roadmap for Android 15?
