“The Nexus 6P and 5X get the Google Pixel’s 3D Touch-like feature in Android 7.1”
The arrival of Pixel smartphones resulted in the decimation of the Nexus brand, but that doesn’t mean that Google has forgotten about them. The company has rolled out the Android 7.1 Developer Preview for the Nexus 5X (review), Nexus 6P (review) and the Pixel C tablet.
The highlights of Android 7.1 are slight tweaks in the appearance such as rounded icons and the addition of an image keyboard. The preview also comes with launcher shortcuts, which gives users a 3D touch-esque functionality by providing them with app specific shortcuts when they long press an app icon.
Interested users can enroll their device in the Android beta program to get access to the developer preview or can manually flash the required system image. Bear in mind that the developer preview will have some bugs so proceed at your own risk.
