The much-anticipated Apple AirPods 2 are still set for a 2018 release. The wireless earphones from the Cupertino-based firm were previously expected to launch at the company’s hardware event on October 30th, but that never happened. Now, a famous tipster – Ice Universe – has claimed that that the AirPods 2 will “definitely” be announced in 2018. The insider hasn’t revealed an exact date for the launch, but we expect it to happen soon since the year is drawing to an end.

Apple AirPods 2 specifications

Based on incessant leaks and rumours, Apple’s next-gen AirPods are expected to come with a slew of upgrades from its predecessor. While the design of AirPods 2 are likely to be unchanged, they are said to be water resistant. Apart from this, the audio accessory will reportedly come with improved battery performance and always-on Siri integration of better AI assistant.

The recent listing of the AirPods 2 on the Bluetooth certification site reveals that the pair can be connected to any device supporting Bluetooth version 5.0. The earphones are also tipped to come with a new wireless charging case but that you will have to purchase separately. The feature will allow users to charge AirPods 2 by simply placing them atop the wireless charging pad.

There’s no information about how much the new AirPods 2 will cost yet. But looking at Apple’s recent trend of pushing prices of its latest products, we surely expect the earphones to cost a bomb.
