Apple AirPods Max price in India, specifications, and availability details announced as the company’s first-ever over-ear noise-cancelling headphones go official. The headphones come with Apple’s signature premium aesthetics and a premium price tag, which is exceptionally high in India. Apple claims that the AirPods Max feature a custom acoustic design and 40mm drivers that deliver rich, deep bass, accurate mid-range, and crisp, clean high-frequency extension so every note can be heard. Apple AirPods Max specifications also include adaptive EQ, transparency mode, Spatial Audio, and audio sharing – similar to AirPods and AirPods Pro – and a digital crown to adjust the volume, summon Siri, and play/pause/skip tracks. There’s also a separate “noise control” button for switching between noise-cancelling and transparency modes.

Apple AirPods Max price in India is set at Rs 59,900, which is far higher than the US price of $549 (approx Rs 40,300). The headphones come in space grey, silver, sky blue, green, and pink colours and are all set to go on sale from December 15th in the country. AirPods Max pre-orders have already begun and the headphones will ship with a special ‘smart’ case designed for it. Apple also provides a Lightning to USB-C cable in the box, but the charging brick and audio cable are sold separately.

Apple AirPods Max headphones are rated to last up to 20 hours of listening time with ANC enabled on a single charge. Around an hour and a half of listening, time can be added with just five minutes of charge, according to Apple. The headphones tout over-ear design, with earcups made of an aluminium frame that attaches to a unique suspension system of the stainless-steel headband, which is covered with a breathable knit mesh canopy, to fit a wide range of head shapes and sizes. Additionally, Apple claims that each earcup has an “acoustically optimised” net that surrounds the magnetically attached memory foam ear cushions to provide a superior passive seal for better noise-cancelling experience.
The Apple AirPods Max headphones are fitted with a 40mm dynamic driver for ‘high-fidelity audio’ and proprietory’s H1 chip. The accessory comes with as many as nine microphones, eight of which also assist the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) function to block outside noise. The headphones have a single button to enable/ disable ANC. The AirPods Max also features spatial audio with dynamic head tracking, which tracks head movement and optimises sound in real-time using accelerometer and gyroscope sensors.
The headphones also have optical and position sensors to detect when the pair is removed from ears — or when one earcup is lifted — to pause the music. There is adaptive EQ to optimise sound for different genres of music. Apple AirPods Max connects wirelessly with other devices using Bluetooth v5.
