In February, Apple announced its plans to increase the price of battery replacements for its iPhones, MacBooks and iPads by anywhere between $20 (around Rs 1,650) and $50 (around Rs 4,000), depending on the device and its generation. Now, the same is being rolled out worldwide, according to a report on the matter by Apple Insider. This is the second time Apple has hiked its battery replacement prices since September last year.
What the new Apple battery replacement prices are?
According to the report, there are multiple tiers to the Apple battery replacement pricing that has been enforced from this month onward, and the same will seemingly reflect in all of its global markets (and not just the US). So far, the battery replacement costs remain unknown for the Indian market.
Apple battery replacement costs for iPhones
For the iPhone 14 series, Apple announced at launch time in September last year that the latter will cost $99 (around Rs 8,100) for battery replacement. This price remains the same for the entire iPhone 14 lineup. For the rest, the prices are as follows:
- iPhone 5 to iPhone 8: $69 (around Rs 5,700), up from $49 (around Rs 4,000)
- iPhone X to iPhone 13 series: $89 (around Rs 7,300), up from $69 (around Rs 5,700)
Pricing for MacBooks
The biggest price hike in terms of the Apple battery replacement costs has been rolled out to its MacBook lineup, which is now more expensive by at least $30 (around Rs 2,500), and up to $50 (around Rs 4,100). Here are the new prices:
- MacBook Air (all eligible models): $159 (around Rs 13,000), up from $129 (around Rs 10,500)
- MacBook Pro: $249 (around Rs 20,400), up from $199 (around Rs 16,300)
- MacBook (2016 and 2017 models): same as the MacBook Pro range
Pricing for iPads
Finally, the price hike has also been reflected in the cost of replacing batteries on iPads, too. However, it is important to note that not all iPads will incur additional costs. According to the report, the tablets that will retain the same battery replacement cost include:
- iPad (all generations): $99 (around Rs 8,100) to $199 (around Rs 16,300)
- 6th gen iPad Pro 12.9: $179 (around Rs 14,700)
- 4th gen iPad Pro 11: $149 (around Rs 12,200)
The rest of the eligible iPads will see a $20 rise in battery replacement prices, up from $99 to $119 (around Rs 9,800). These devices include the following:
- iPad Pro 12.9 (5th gen or older)
- iPad Pro 11 (3rd gen or older)
- iPad Pro 10.5
- iPad Pro 9.7
- iPad mini (all generations)
- iPad Air (all generations)
