Apple to reportedly cut iOS 19 support for iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max

Apple will host its Wordwide Developers’ Conference (WWDC) 2025 between June 9th and June 13th this year. At the event, the company is expected to announce iOS 19, the next-gen mobile operating system that will power the company’s iPhone models. Ahead of the annual event, a report has tipped the iPhone models that won’t get iOS 19 this year.

iOS 19 to drop support for old iPhone models

  • According to a report by a private account on X (formerly Twitter) seen by 9to5mac, Apple will reportedly drop support for three of its old iPhone models with iOS 19 roll out later this year.
  • As per the report, Apple is expected to drop support for the iPhone XR, iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max with the iOS 19 roll out.
  • If this report is true, the company would stop providing OS upgrades to these iPhone models after supporting them for nearly six years.
  • That said, the could keep providing vital security updates to these iPhone models just as it did by releasing iOS 16.7.11 for the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X. Apple had dropped support for these iPhone models with the roll out of iOS 18 last year.
  • It is worth mentioning that the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X were launched in 2017 at starting prices of Rs 64,000, Rs 73,000 and Rs 89,900 respectively.
  • Furthermore, the report says that Apple is expected to drop support for 7th generation iPad that was launched in 2019 at a starting price of Rs 29,900 with the roll out of iPadOS 19.

  • The iOS 19 is also expected to change the way users control and interact with their devices.
