- Apple iPhone 12 series will be announced on October 13th
- All iPhone 12 models are expected to come with 5G support and OLED displays
- Apple may also announce its over-ear headphones, AirTags, and a smaller HomePod at the event
Apple has sent out invites for the iPhone 12 series launch event on October 13th, keeping in line with past reports. The online event will take place at none other than the Apple Park and it is scheduled to begin at 10 am PDT (10:30 pm IST). The iPhone 12 event has the tagline “Hi, Speed” which seems to suggest 5G support for the upcoming models. The iPhone 12 lineup is tipped to include four models this time around, all of which are expected to feature the new A14 Bionic SoC, 5G support, and OLED displays.
Apple is expected to announce the 5.4-inch iPhone mini, 6.1-inch iPhone 12, 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max. While the Pro models were earlier expected to come with 120Hz displays, that may not be the case as Apple is said to have settled for 60Hz screens for the upcoming lineup. Apple is also rumoured to bring in improvements to night mode, Smart HDR, and bump up the telephoto lens zoom from 2x to 3x.
This year’s iPhone event comes later than usual thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. This time the September event, which usually sees the new iPhone model, was exclusively for the new Apple Watch SE, Watch Series 6, iPad Air 4, and iPad 8 models. The October 13th event will see the new iPhones and possibly the rumoured Apple over-ear headphones as well. We may also see a smaller HomePod and AirTags at next month’s event.
The iPhone 12 series is expected to launch in India soon after its global announcement. The company recently launched the Apple Store online in the country, allowing customers to purchase Apple products directly through the official Apple website. Apple Store online offers trade-in options for iPhone, financing options, student discounts, AppleCare+, and more.
