iPhone SE 2020 specifications
Compared to the 4-inch 640×1136 pixels display of the original iPhone SE, the second-generation model comes with a bigger screen at 4.7-inch, with 750 x 1334 pixels resolution and HDR10 support. The screen is still LCD and the aspect ratio is also stuck at 16:9. In fact, in design terms, it will be hard to differentiate between the iPhone SE 2020 and the iPhone 8/7/6s/6. The iPhone SE uses Haptic Touch for Quick Actions (animating Live Photos, previewing messages, rearranging apps, etc) as well as contextual menus.
However, the smartphone is much different inside thanks to the hexa-core A13 Bionic SoC, which Apple calls the most powerful smartphone chipset in the world. It is complemented by iOS 13, which should be upgradable to four generations at least. There is no clarity of how much RAM the iPhone SE 2020 packs, but we do know it will come in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage options, with no expandable storage support.
On the back, the iPhone SE 2020 sports a 12MP single camera with f/1.8 aperture, dual-pixel PDAF, OIS, and dual-tone, dual-LED flash. Key camera features include 4K video, time-lapse, and slow-mo recording capabilities; moreover, users will be able to capture 8MP still shots while capturing 4K videos. On the front is a 7MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture, portrait mode, and on-screen flash. Of course, there’s no Face ID on the smartphone; instead, it gets the Touch ID fingerprint sensor in the Home button for biometric authentication.
iPhone SE 2020 comes with features such as 18W fast-charging, Qi wireless charging, and IP67 rating for dust- and water-resistance
Battery capacity of iPhone SE 2020 is not known at the moment, but Apple says it delivers the same life as the iPhone 8. It also supports fast-charging and is claimed to go from 0 to 50 percent in 30 minutes with an 18W charger. It also supports Qi wireless charging standard, so it can be used with most wireless charging pads. There’s no 3.5mm audio jack of course, and buyers will have to use the Lightning jack to listen to wired audio.
On the connectivity front, the iPhone SE 2020 comes with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, dual-SIM (with eSIM for secondary connections), and Lightning port. The mobile data connectivity is limited to just 4G VoLTE even in markets such as the US, meaning no 5G support on the budget smartphone. The smartphone is also IP67 rated for water- and dust-resistance and can survive up to 1 metre underwater for up to 30 minutes. It measures 138.4 x 67.3 x 7.3mm in size and weighs 148 grams.
