Apple plans to open new stores in Noida and Pune: report

Apple is reportedly planning to expand its retail footprint in India. The first Apple Stores in India launched in 2023 in New Delhi and Mumbai. There have been talks about Apple explaning its retail footprint in the country. Now, the iPhone maker is reportedly planning to open four more Apple Stores across the country. Two of these stores are expected to open Noida and Pune.

New Apple Stores opening in Noida and Pune

According to a report by The Financial Express, the iPhone-maker is likely to open a store in Noida’s Mall of India.
Apple is also said to open another store in Pune’s Kopa Mall as part of the second phase of its retail expansion plans in India.
The report says that Apple has already finalised the location in Pune and Noida and that it is looking for two more places in Bengaluru and Mumbai.
This development follows job postings spotted on LinkedIn last month. The report says that out of the 20 jobs, eight openings were for Apple Retail indicating that the company is likely to expand its presence in India in the coming days.
Interestingly enough, this news comes shortly after reports suggested that the iPhone-maker is reportedly planning to ramp up its iPhone manufacturing ecosystem in India to cushion the impact of the new tariffs imposed by the US government.
As per reports, Apple’s contract manufacturers made around 12 million iPhone units in India in 2024. The company is expected to bring this figure up to 30 million iPhone units in 2025.
Furthermore, the report says that Apple is also expected to sell more Made-in-India iPhones in the US compared to the ones manufactured in China as they attract lesser tariffs. For understanding, the US government has imposed a tariff of 26 percent on the goods imported from India while the number stands at 145 percent for China.

It is worth mentioning that, Apple opened two retail stores in India in 2023. While the Apple BKC in Jio World Drive World was inagurated on April 18th, 2023, Apple Saket was inagurated at Select City Walk in New Delhi on April 20th, 2023.
